We now have the skilled big man, net presence, offense generator, and a reach in close, and a PK-PP physical player.

Wiz - When do you think he'll be ready to jump to the NHL?

LOL I voted Byram, but I'm pretty excited about the potential of this giant with high end skill.

Couple good reads, Zo

https://theathletic.com/9...afting-center-kirby-dach/

I like this one cuz it's critical do a degree. I can see the good point out the warts as a scout: https://dobberprospects.c...ect-deep-dive-kirby-dach/

No doubt of his size and skill but my concern was a kid with this package only put up 73 points on a good team. That's where my concern was his floor is lowish for a #3 overall but IMO his ceiling is off the charts.

I see a more skilled player than Getzlaf but nowhere near the snarl and a more explosive player than Thorton.

Like Wiz and LBR have eluded to....the guy is not just a physical specimen, but a complete hockey player. Natural Center, that could be a fit as a Right Shot LW playing across from Kane....can you see the extended O-zone possession as teams try to get the puck back in the O-Zone with Dach + Kane combinig skill, vision and ability to protect the puck?? Can play PK, go to the net and is probably the closest to NHL ready after Hughes/Kakko.

If you weren't a girl you would be Da Man, LBR!! Was just reading up on Dach and ran across this from the Athletic: https://theathletic.com/9...afting-center-kirby-dach/

"Saskatoon Blades GM Colin Priestner said: “Kirby had an excellent sophomore season for us. He was consistently our top player on a very good veteran team. His size and his ability to see the ice and make plays will always garner the most attention, but his performance defensively against top centers every night was something I think goes a little under the radar. He has a Datsyukian ability to strip pucks and his reach is quite something on both sides of the puck. He dealt with a tremendous amount of spotlight and pressure from NHL teams all season and handled it all in a professional and business-like manner. He’s one of the most special players we’ve ever had and he will be a franchise centreman in the NHL for years to come thanks to his blend of skill, size, hockey IQ and work ethic. He’s a great person and has earned all the accolades he has been given.”

No team ever went wrong with a big man down the middle who can really play the game. Definitely not comparing him, but big boys like Beliveau, Lemieux, Malkin, Getzlaf all have their names on the Cup.

And now Stan can go get Beecher tomorrow!

Would love to see the 6'6" stay at home defender with good skating in Alex Vlasic.

It will shake itself out but yes he's probably near as NHL ready as any players after Hughes and Kakko but I hope they let him marinate a yr. Kid this big is also a big target on NHL ice..........

Yea they could start him out as a wing but with his IQ I want him to have the freedom and responsibility a center has. I think you waste a good bit of his game on wing once he acclimates to the NHL.

The expectation is that he goes back to Saskatoon, but StanBo himself today looked pretty optimistic about his ability to make the Big Club this fall. Time will tell, but it's exciting to think about the potential with Dach on a line with Debrincat or Kane.

LOL not in a year either!

Believe me

Wiz I love how good you’re feeling about the non Byram selection, clearly you didn’t see the value everyone else was seeing in that player.
