As much as i've been told about the players they are interested in, IMO Botterill should wait and see what comes along that works for this team moving forward. Don't want to see another " Okposo" deal. Skinner was one thing, bad players are another. - SABRES 89
I'm hoping he feels the pressure of 2 awful seasons, but does not make panic deals that end up being worse. |

He is the guy I have pegged to sign the worst UFA contract of the year.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see if he gets 6Mm for a long term deal. - ImThatGuy
According to Daily Faceoff, he's on the fourth line.
He's behind:
Nyquist
Pavelski
LaBanc
Take that for whatever it's worth. |

Read this on twatter today:
Andre Burakovsky, who can become a restricted free agent July 1, may not receive a qualifying offer from the Capitals, general manager Brian MacLellan said Thursday.
I'll take him. - RhinoFan
He made 3 last year so not sure I would go more than that.

Him at 6 mil is going to be better than Duchene at 10+
I also don’t think he sniffs 6

Why does that make the team worse?
I’m expecting Sheary to produce well on Jack’s wing
He did briefly last year, and has before when played in Pitt’s top6 - jdfitz77
If you think it's best, that's a better argument. Adding that you want to increase his value in order to trade him implies that you know it's not best.

Botts made one bad traded he was forced to make. Other wise he’s been fine. |

I'm more saying along the lines of making quick decisions. I'm thinking he will not stray from his path or trusting his process. I'm hoping he doesn't overpay for Duchene, or do something irrational because he feels the pressure. If he has a plan, stick to it. Don't deviate just because you're trying to protect yourself.
I would also speculate that the Sabres have as good of a chance as any to get Perry.
Ek saying the Kings want him, may be like Gorges going to Toronto. |

What???
Obviously his value wouldn’t increase unless he was productive
So the only thing it implies is that he’d do well on that line
I don’t see any point to just having Sheary eek out his last year on line3
We can get something out of him by playing him with Jack... AND... then be able to get a better return for him at the deadline... AND... it helps out another line by moving down Sam (like i said before)
WIN, WIN, WIN scenario

One of my best friends is a Sharks fan and watches every game of theirs... he says he is realllllly overrated and really is a product of the talent on the ice around him.
Take it for what you want. - JVince11

Wasn't there a time last season that Casey, Sam, and Connor played fairly well together, or was that a dream? |

Joonas Donskoi is just such a good fit as a two way player who has a decent finishing touch to play with Eichel or Mitts. - OneKaneOneCup
I'd rather have Nyquist |

Conspiracy theory, "Insert X-Files Music" - hehateme
Or it’s the fact even with Sobotka we have 20M in cap space and what’s the point of creating more space and having an additional $1.5M on our cap next year for no reason ?
Next years cap is more important then this years. |

Whats.... SHIN Godzilla? I saw King of the Monsters in theatres last week... What's... shin? - JVince11
The Japanese made a new Godzilla movie after that pile of crap in 2014 that Hollywood made. it was in 2016 and it was called Shin Godzilla and it's one of the best Godzilla movies ever.
And the Atomic breath scene in Shin is one of the greatest things ever put to film. Seriously. |

I agree
Which is why I wasn't opposed to taking on Callahan's contract
I would even take Clarkson's contract for a year as well
Unless they're thinking about adding another big contract (Subban, Duchene, etc) there is no reason to worry about this years cap |

He’s been very unimpressive to me. Needs to nail the draft and offseason or this should be his last year. |

This is a classic service industry trick, no one wants to work the holidays. This seems odd for a GM like Botts... |

There are a few GMs who love the spotlight but in general yeah.
Any predictions?
I think they'll make a play for one of Henrique/Ghost
long shot: Letang.

Sounds fair to me. I mean he isn't getting 5 or 6 from anyone. Still, he had to battle for every minute of playing time on that Caps team yet still got 25 points. That's not bad considering he averaged 11 minutes, basically playing 4th line minutes. |

If it gets us a discount on some good players,
then YES
Absolutely make moves like that with Cap strapped teams |
