No idea if they had an opportunity to trade up, he was no where near draft table. Botts would of been foolish not to explore any trade option if it was offered though (my opinion). I like the defenseman they drafted too, those are always valuable and teams will always trade for them

The problem I see, you trade risto, big hole on d. Trade Samson. Big hole on the wing. It’s rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. Botts will need another skinner and Sheary deal. And two of those may not be enough...

He said they tried to trade up but there was no interest, and they tried to trade 31 for an NHL player, but teams didn't seem to be interested in trading.

That makes sense. We knew the Sabres at 7 would have a couple good players to chose from.

We just have to hope that Cozen is who the sabres want him to be ... other wise we will watch zegras and hope he doesnt turn into a stud.

You cant blame botts ..... no GMs made trades. Like its been said on twitter / hockey media, not knowing the salary cap for next year hurt things.

Mitts fell because scouts were mad that he went back to high school hockey from the USHL. Scouts were not happy with that.

Grigs - mono and play went down.

Nylander - no idea.

I saw stuff on twitter that other teams were trying to move their late picks with no takers. Just wasn't a market yesterday unfortunately.

I think our only trade chips would be Risto, McCabe, Nylander and next years 1st. I was hoping 31 would have gotten us a roster player but the more I think about it I think we will be a lottery team again next year.
