Anyone who has taken 10 minutes to 10 hours looking at possible picks at 7 more than likely came up with a few favorites. For me, after Turcotte the player was Zegras. Hearing that the Sabres met with him multiple times made me optimistic when he was there at 7, so it’s tough to not feel let down.
But...in the few drafts under Bots the results are trending positively. I wanted a center this years and a 6’3 burner is far from a disappointment. I’m looking forward to first impressions at prospect camp.
Honestly, could you even imagine this board if we pulled a Det and went off the board??? |

Lot of people here hated the mitts pick that night. They wanted vilardi. Hoping mitts turns into a player. We need him to - Fattony1187

Mitts fell because scouts were mad that he went back to high school hockey from the USHL. Scouts were not happy with that.
Grigs - mono and play went down.
Nylander - no idea. - Sabretooth9

You don't draft for need in the NHL. These kids are years away. - Powerslave
We have no “goal scorers” in the system though
And when would you ever not need guys that can put the puck in the net??? |

Caufield fell. - Powerslave
Exactly.
We won't regret these picks.
But the real issue now is that were going into next season with the exact same roster.
Things need to change quick. |

Yes it does they would be playing over seas to get ready for the NHL not in the CHL it would change everything |

Krebs fell imo. Caufield going in the 12-15 range was about right. |

I'm shocked that 31 wasn't dealt for some immediate help.
At this point, what are their legit trade chips to help improve this team for next year? - Powerslave
He said he tried to trade, talked to some teams but the feeling no trades could be made. I'm still not sold on Johnson at 31, thought it was a bit of a reach with guys like Kaliyev, Lavoie, Vlasic and Robertson there. Some mocks had Johnson in the 40's.
I would have went with either Kaliyev or Lavoie at 31. |

Cozens is more a shooter then a playmaker. He is probably the closest to being NHL ready outside of the top 2 picks as well. We needed to add size and speed and he addresses both. I’m just happy we went down the middle with our selection, whether it was Cozens or Zegras that was my hope. |

Caufield? Great stats but he also played with Jack Hughes and lasted until pick 15.... - turbo044
Just like DeBrincat was a product of Connor McDavid then Dylan Strom

Didn't those two have questions regarding their work ethic? I know Kaliyev did. Eff that. That's the last thing we need. |

I love what Colorado did last night. Getting the best dman in Byram gives them flexibility to trade Barrie for more pieces. Byram and Makar will be an unreal d pair for years. And getting Newhook at 16 is a great pick. They did well for a team already on the rise. |

Yep. Many mock drafts had him going to Buffalo. Also their were many opinions that another team would snatch him up before our pick.
Krebs injury was solely responsible for his fall. |

Yeah based on YouTube scouting (sarcasm)
Cozens seems to have speed, quick release, good shot, and loves to carry the puck in.
Also probly going to Atleast get a 9 game try out. The other players like zegs needs that one year of college |

Kaliyev can be lackadaisical at times and his play away from the puck needs improving. But he's a shoot first winger that just scores. I haven't tread anything about Lavoie being lazy. This dude at 6'4" just powers his way into shooting lanes. He would have been a solid pick for us. |
