I get it, but can we stop pretending that Zegras was a top 3 prospect and that Cozens was a second round grade?

They were ranked literally right around the same spot

- OneKaneOneCup

19/20 mocks and analysts had Cozens ranked higher, despite him being so god damn stupid and not having any skill what so ever.

A 6’3 big center that has some major speed / wheel, great skater, Good shot, some skill (Gerbe), loves to carry the puck in, and drive the offense.

Nothing to complain about. A not as skilled Eichel basically. The way I look at it.

So low calling Brandon Dubinsky

High : ?

Gerbe is gonna Gerbe, but Sabre fans in general are getting so weird.

When a scout says he has
“some skill” “
not a high end skill player “
“ but he tries “

- gerbe75pts

I feel like I'm reading girgensons scouting report.

It’s not complaining I just feel if “center “ was the target should have picked Zegras

But I guess The reason why they picked him was because he might transfer to wing

- gerbe75pts

Annnnd, some called him the best skater in the draft, he's 6'3", not 6' (like Zegras), he forces a lot of turnovers in the neutral zone, and he's not a Casey clone, which is what many call Zegras.

I just hope they don’t rush him he probably needs 2 more years

Hopefully goes through a full body transformation that would be cool to see

But he can not go in the nhl looking like that

The other thing I like about Cozens which works in his favor is he can play wing.

Tbh I would trust Zegras more then Casey
He’s a player that wants to be “the guy” and will work extremely hard to get his body right

Casey has The potential to be a top 10 player in the nhl imo but I don’t think he Has that fire hes just comfortable with being a “guy”

Sure will, that’s his ceiling. You could say the same about your guy Caufield. He’s not gonna just come into the nhl and be a 50 goal guy, it’ll take work. Have faith dude cozens is a very good “prospect”. If he’s developed right he could be a 30g 30a two way forward.

People will be disappointed with this pick. When they have him on the 3rd and 4th line in 4 years.

He’s right handed too, might be another reason they passed on Zegras.

Offensive Game

Cozens is a pure goal scorer. He has an excellent wrist shot and a quick release as well as the soft hands to finish in close. Cozens also has a good snapshot and slap shot. He is not afraid to get to the dirty areas of the ice, establishing position at the top of the slot, where he can fire in one-timers or provide the “high-screen” that many teams are using to great effect in recent years. With the puck on his stick, he is not afraid to take it to the front of the net.

Dylan Cozens also sees the ice very well. He controls the puck in the cycle game before dishing to an open teammate. His hockey IQ is excellent, as he anticipates where his teammates are headed and is able to set them up for good scoring chances. He can control the puck and has the patience to slow down the play and the instinct to speed it up in order to create openings depending on the situation. His vision and skill allow him to quarterback the power play on the half boards. Without the puck, Cozens finds soft spots in the defence and gets himself open to make a play. He is also effective at battling for loose pucks in the corners and along the boards.

Sounds JUST like Girgensons

I believe Caufield will be a star in the league and make everyone look dumb for passing on him .

And yes cozens could be “ Kessler “ but he needs to work extremely hard the first thing I would do is call Gary Roberts he be perfect for him

Yes it does they would be playing over seas to get ready for the NHL not in the CHL it would change everything
- gerbe75pts

They would still be playing regardless. You’d have a much better idea of who/what you were drafting at 20.

What are you talking about. He was considered a first round pick. Not a top 10. But a top 20.
