Re: Cozens...

The best part about Cozens’ game is the speed and pace he plays at. There are not many 6-foot-3 centers with his speed who can also provide offensive skill.

Having a center like Cozens who can so easily exit his zone and gain the offensive zone in a second with skill is such a valuable asset.

..because of his ability to make plays on the move, he’s able to break open games with his skill.

In the NHL, Cozens is likely a player who will be relied on to make plays down low, around the net and off the rush, and he can do that very well.

..he can put guys on their backs when the time calls for it.

The only player in the modern era to produce more than Cozens’ eight points as a U16 in the playoffs was Brayden Point with 10

With his skating ability, his size and his talent level, Cozens has all the components to become a quality first line forward in the NHL, whether on the wing or at center. Evaluators feel he could be in the NHL by the 2020-21 season as well.

The Canadian is very strong in transition. He does a great job of getting the puck out of his own zone without relinquishing possession, and can carry the puck into the offensive zone seemingly at will. When he does dump the puck in, he’s an extremely effective forechecker, limiting options and getting in on the puck astoundingly quickly. He’s responsible for a lot of panicked defencemen, and honestly, it’s hard to blame the players for momentary lapses in decision-making when they look up to see a 6’3″, 185 pound beast flying towards them.[img]
