He's more of a lockdown defender with the ability to move the puck out of his zone. More of a steady defender right?
- mhp

Yes. Responsible, not overly physical, but smart. Think spurgeon ( obviously high praise, but I mean goes to the corner and uses smarts and quickness to win battles) some skill. I'd say much different then samuelson

One mock that many use had the exact player they picked at 31 slotted there.

I saw a few guys slipped at got excited, plus a few from Baker's preview were there....but it still seems like very reasonable pick. There's a reason those guys slid.

Thank you. All these professional talent scouts on Hockeybuzz don’t have a clue on what they are talking about. Nobody really knows how theses guys are going to turn out. These players are so young.

I knew Brandon Lemieux was a bust when we drafted him

But you’re right ( no sarcasm )

Don’t really like that last pick, there were goal scorers there and he took another defensemen. Have to wonder there
- SABRES 89

As we found out in 50/06 you can never have too many defensemen

He’s not the flashy pick but from what I’m reading he is a good stay at home guy that makes a good outlet pass.

I find it interesting that Cozens is posted as a C/RW on draft recaps now including the Sabres little short summary.

I’m almost positive that during the draft he was only mentioned as a C even though his scouting reports said he could play both wings.

You mean like how they reached for Watkins? Bills had a great draft. Wide receiver is a tough position. If they are studs then you get to deal with the drama queen\diva personalities. I like what they did for wide receiver this off season.

I really thought we were going to go for need we really need elite-good wingers Imo
- gerbe75pts

You don’t draft for need in NHL. Unless it’s a top 5 pick most guys usually take 2-4 years to start making impacts. Two years ago we were desperate for D. Stuff changes quickly

I agree.

I'm guilty of ignoring some of the later round D-Men but D-men are the New GOLD

Didn’t we all complain the last two drafts about his picks and then come to find out they’re pretty solid so far?

Maybe they just know what they’re doing?

Nobody in the organization cares about sucking at scoring goals so why should the fans? We need more defensive forwards and D. Just got to be really good in shootouts.

Agreed with everything... Except size. He's 6' 170 PROGRAM. So more like 5'10" 160
