I mean look, all the names we wanted haven't been picked yet. That doesn't necessarily make us wrong or any other hockey writers wrong, but I guess we can take solace in the fact those guys are still available. I dunno lol - Rinosaur
I wouldn't

From Pronman at the Athletic...
Poulin, the 2017 second-overall pick in the QMJHL draft, was a good junior player the past two years and got better as the season went along and in the postseason. He’s a smart and competitive winger. He’s very intelligent, flashing high-end vision and tending to make good decisions with the puck. As the season went along he showed more consistent playmaking and overall dynamic elements. He’s got some soft skill, but he’s more of a distributor than an individual creator. He’s got very good hands in tight and scored several nifty goals. His shot is also good, and he can score with his wrist shot in tight. Poulin works hard, is strong on pucks, and wins his fair share of battles along the boards and in front of the net. He’s already quite strong, measuring in at over 200 pounds. His skating is OK. Some days he flashes a good top gear and other times I don’t think his pace is anything noteworthy. - madmike71
Pronman had him at 33. This is kind of what I expected the Pens to do: pick a guy with a late 1st/ early 2nd grade.
Hopefully it works out because that still makes him probably our top prospect. Stinks to see a talent like Kaliyev sitting there though. |

So... 0 for 2 on picking a guy that was pegged as better than our pick |

The concern here for me would be is how long has he been skating and he is still relatively slow? - Feds91Stammer
I've seen average skater, but then again I barely knew who he was a few minutes ago. |

Average is never a good thing imo for a 1st round pick. |

It would be nice if JR moved into the 2nd round so he could draft who he should have in the 1st round. |

Late round power forwards are always a risk IMO because of their size. When they're that big in the juniors they can excel because they're much stronger than their competition, but when they move up to pro it evens out and if they don't really have that skill you'll hope they're a solid 4th liner. |

Same could be said for Yzerman but honestly I don't know if enough GMs have the balls to trade up. |

Tomorrow they do rounds 2-7. I would expect a number of deals to happen tomorrow. Now that GMs primary focus has shifted from the draft to their rosters.
Going to be a long night and sleep for guys projected to go in Round 1 that dropped to Round 2. |

Nils Hoglander is a guy a lot of people thought the Penguins might reach for Bob has him ranked at 35. Said to have the best hands in the draft.
Really wish we would have moved back. Would have been great to pick up a 3rd round pick or something. |

Good thing it is in Canada so the 18 year olds can drink.
Must be a gutting feeling to think you'd be gone in Round 1 only to have to wait one more day. |
