Subban rumours only make sense if NZ and a bunch of salary is going the other way. Maybe with Kadri? - The Law
Would you trade Marleau for Subban?
I would think it would be someone like Kapanen and Liljegren for Subban. Maybe next years first.
Or Nylander. Odd if it were Kadri since they have Turris and RyJo |

Nylander + Zaitsev (~11.5m total cap) for Subban (2m retained) + Smith (~11.3m total cap) |

If Nashville retains the 30% they said they would, then Subban rumors will involve Nylander. Most teams will take a shot at Subban at 6.5 or so. |

Sounds like Nashville really wants to unload Subban, and willing to eat up to $2.5 million per. Would much rather go after pick #32 from Ottawa. #53 plus a few pieces that won't play for the Leafs and pick up arthur kaliyev

You don't trade two young players like Liljegren and Kapanen with upside for a 30 year old on the downside, if you wish to remain employed for long.
Maybe Nylander straight up with alary retention, but I would do Kadri for Subban for sure. |

They need forward help, and they have Fabbro pushing for a top-4 spot. |

Honestly, not crazy about Subban, a low key RHD like Colin Miller would be fine, unload Zaitsev to Oilers or Canucks and give Arizona a 2nd and Borgman to take Marleau.

Vegas has negative cap space. The Leafs could get Miller for a 3rd and Timashov. |

I like Pk but I don't see Dubas dealing his youth for a 30 yr old.
With those Kadri rumours out there and leafs demanding a lessor 3rd line centre in return how about ..
Kadri + Zaitsev for Pk (2 mill retained) + Jarnkrok.
That's 9 million going both ways. Only works though if Poile thinks Zaitsev is not terrible. |

I like the idea of getting Miller from Vegas better. He's younger, reasonable salary for 3 years and much less of a distraction. Cost would be significantly less as well and Dubas can use assets to shore up other areas. I would give up assets for Ottawa's next pick.

Looks like it's gonna be a record fast rebuild - a couple pylons on D need to disappear and Henrik's 8.5M cap hit too, but it's a slim chance we're in the playoffs already next season. |

They have lots of cap space, I would think they are a playoff tean next year. Georgiev looks pretty good, they will probably move Kreider.
