EDIT: The other aspect is that any low pick likely wouldn't be ready for a few years - by keeping all of the above you don't sacrifice any of the current window.

Johnsson and Kappy are excellent pieces.

They’re smart and fast enough to play in most situations. Both earned their contracts, and should prevent anyone from trying to demand a lot of cash. Either could hit 50pts, that’ll set a bar. These deals could be as good as the Rielly/Kadri deals. If the Leafs need one more piece at the deadline, either would make a good trade chip.
