Not sure if anybody can argue that Seider is better than Broberg at this point ??
Heard one analyst say he didn't see any offensive upside with Seider. And he was shocked by the pick as well. I DON'T want to see another Libor Sulak 2.0. Remeber that "project" ? He had good size and was an excellent skater when I saw him in GR. But he also didn't have any offensive upside and got caught out of position... which is why he couldn't crack Detroit's lineup. - Vladdie_Kon1

Imagine comparing Seider and Sulak - Feds91Stammer
I'm sure Seider is a better player in the long run (his ceiling is obviously higher)... Just hoping this pick isn't a bust. |

You just compared a 1st round pick 18 year old to a 24 year old undrafted free agent... |

Yeah... just frustrated by the pick for the most part and venting. I still think they should have taken either Cozens or Zegras. They need depth up the middle badly as well as defense. |

I think so... After Larkin, they have AA.. but the rumors are they want to move him back to Wing. After that they have Neilson, Glendening, Jacob De La Rose. Veleno looks good... but he still hasn't played an AHL game yet. Not what I'd call deep up the middle by any stretch. |

Veleno and USHL kid can both play center. |

Simplest way to put it for me. I like the prospect but not necessarily the right value at 6th overall.
If he becomes Seth Jones we will all be praising Yzerman.
If he becomes Cody Ceci we will all be saying told you so. - Feds91Stammer
This is basically my take as well. |

Seider was ranked as high as 10th on some experts rankings. I forget which one. So trading down might of been too risky if he was really Yzerman's guy all along. |

For me as soon as the Wings dropped to 6th in the lottery, i lost pretty much any expectation from this draft and didn't really have any player i really wanted them to get. I knew they had no shot at Hughes or Kakko...Byram and Turcotte would also be likely gone. So i'm not really disappointed by this pick at all.
If anything i'm kind of happy Yzerman went for a dman that high (even if it was a bit of a reach). For a draft that was suppose to be weak for defense plenty got drafted in the 1st round and the Wings likely wouldn't have had much to choose from with the 35th pick and the defense would be relying on long term projects and prayers to get an NHL dman worth a damn. Holland likely should have done this last year and if he did maybe Yzerman and the Wings would have picked differently in this one...but then again maybe not if this was their top choice for the 1st round.
Wings really need to fix that defense if they ever hope to get out of the basement. Hopefully next year they win the damn draft lottery and pick up Alexis Lafreniere to add to their forwards or maybe pick up another good dman. |

Im kind of with you on this. I’m optimistic about Seider. The more I read and watch about him, the better I feel that this was an alright pick. |
