it's apples to oranges when you evaluate player for picks trades using this logic.
The benefit of drafting/developing your own similar player is the cheap production you get before they get paid fair value on their 2nd or 3rd contracts. Plus you get more years of their prime. So even if both players turn out relatively equal, you benefit much more from the draft pick turning out than you do from trading for a player. - Nucker101
"If" that prospect ever even turns out. I can't imagine how you feel at the TDL when teams trade pciks for current players. Do you hide in your closet with tin foil hat on? |

Why hasn't Aquilini tweeted about how excited he is to add Miller to the Canucks? |

He's usually good for 20+, he spent some time in the doghouse in Tampa, didn't get his usual ice time. Not a ringing endorsement, I know, but that's why Tampa was so dominant during the regular season. They had a player of Miller's caliber in their doghouse while Canuck fans were trying to get excited about Leivo/Pearson as potential 2nd line help for Horvat. - Nucker101
He spent a bunch of time on the 4th line. If I remember correct he even sat in the press box for some time as well. This is a horrible deal. The optics are not good at all. |

He should be using it to fire Benning. |

We need a foundational player now that Benning has undermined this team. |

You can't just go and trade foundational players. |

He was a player I was hoping Benning could trade for at a reasonable cost because of his issues with Cooper + TB’s cap situation. I think it’s an overpay for sure.
But Miller as a player will be a nice upgrade on the likes of Baertschi and Leivo.
I like him better as a fit with Bo than EP, but we’ll see how things unfold. |

That would be setting him up for failure, I hope Green is smarter than that |

According to Biech, because this is before July 1st, Canucks do not need to fully honor JT Miller's trade clauses.
I wonder what the implications of this trade will mean for expansion draft. I know a ton can change between now and then, but I am assuming Miller needs to be protected. |
