According to Biech, because this is before July 1st, Canucks do not need to fully honor JT Miller's trade clauses.
I wonder what the implications of this trade will mean for expansion draft. I know a ton can change between now and then, but I am assuming Miller needs to be protected. - Codes1087
If you are trading a first and third he better damn well better be here longer than 2 years |

5.25 Million 4 years left, for a guy with 13 goals (75 games) on a high offensive team.
Career high is 53 pts. Basically a 40+ pt player for a 1st and 3rd. Ridiculous. - storm88
Do some research on the player. He put up 47 points while sometimes playing as low as the 4th line. That’s pretty remarkable. He is a legit top 6 forward who averages over 50 pts per |

Hmmm. Let me look at my to-do list.
Draft a Russian? Check.
Dispose of a next year's first round pick? Check.
Trade for Lucic? Close. Just waiting until Ericksson's got his July 1st money.
As soon as that happens I can hire Chiarelli and shortly after that I get fired.
Honey, we can be back in Boston by the end of next month. |

He's probably more of a 50 point player when he gets consistent top 6 + PP time with a decent C to play with.
I like Miller.
The one thing easier to swallow here is that he's actually a good offensive player unlike Sutter/Gudbranson. The cost is high, but at least the player should provide an actual boost to the team offensively. - Nucker101

18 goals, 47 points in 63 games. was apart of the Erik karlsson deal.
I guess the Canucks see upside in dropping 52 odd spots to take a chance on an AHL kid. I don't get it either. |

I did. I'm sorry, I don't agree with the trade. Tampa needed relief. They end up with a 1st and 3rd.
Meanwhile Subban goes for 2 2nds. Marleau is sent away with a 1st.
1 56 pt season. |

NHL: You’re up.
Jim: We’re not ready, we’re trading down.
Scouts: That’s not usually how trading down works Jimbo.
Jim: Good stuff. Got us some good stuff. |
