I think after seeing Benning’s work this weekend he might see if Dorian has any openings. |

Maybe. Or perhaps it could have been another Brock Boeser. The anger has nothing to do with who they got. It's what they paid and the circumstances involved. Gudbranson 2.0 - YeOldTimer
This is what pisses almost everyone off. I liked the trade when they first announced it. When I found out it included a 1st round pick I went ape-sh*t. |

Look at the Hayes deal . Fletcher and the Flyers gave up a first round pick and a young prospect drafted in the first round to pay Hayes 7 mil for 7 years. They helped Winnipeg with their cap issues and gave them a first.
Benning does something similar but a lesser extent and receives 3 times the flack.
I still need to see the final team this year and how much of an improvement . - VANTEL
First, i take Miller over Hayes any day of the week, and second, his cap hit is a bargain. He’ll have a career year this season. I don’t like giving up a first but I like what we got. As for drafting no Defenceman, he must know from talking to agents if players are wanting to sign here. Tampering or not, we know it happens all the time. |

I think miller will be very good, he isn't old, plays a heavy game. We didn't get an ahler for picks did we. That 1st could be in the 20s and wont be relevant for 5 years if at all. - Bettmanhatesus
I think this is as optimistic as one could possibly be. I don't like the trade but I also dont think its as bad as some of the drama queens on here are acting - oscar worthy performances BTW, congrats Driftwood, take a bow) If we're truly thinking long term then there's some other factors to consider. For example, if we don't make the playoffs this year (as expected) then we get another lottery/first rounder - great. At some point we can't keep relying on picking high every fawking year, the team will inevitably improve. The 2021, 1st pick could be as insignificant as Gaunce or Shinkaruk - to play devils advocate. Another thing to consider is can we recoup/gain a first back if we don't make the playoffs this year? Also, Bo, Brock, Ep, Miller, Pearson and Podkolzin could potentially be a dynamite top 6 sooner rather than later. |

Nice read with some stats on Miller. The beauty of acquiring Miller is as soon as Elias gets injured we have a top 6 center ready to fill in. Any team w playoff aspirations require 3 top 6 centres |

There's at least a half-dozen teams who are going to have to move middle six forwards due to cap compliance within the next 2 weeks.
Not want to, have to.
He refused to trade Hamhuis to Dallas for a 3rd round pick last minute because he didn't want to set a precedent for getting taken advantage of. And yet here we are several years later and he's still losing his lunch money to the other kids and thinking they did him a favor. |

I liked how you used Gillis picks as an example of garbage 1st rounders. |

It could also be 1st overall. See Senators, Ottawa. They missed the cup final by one game, went all in trading for players and then poop the bed. The Canucks have yet to make the playoffs, have gone all in... |
