Sutter is 2yr serviceable 3LC for someone at not the worst $ ever. Someone could take that and send us a 5th in return. I’d bury Loui in Utica personally. Eating $18mil isn’t a big deal when it puts you in a position to make much much more than that. - DrChristianTroy
You wouldn't get the right return for players like Sutter and Virtanen because you have become the VGK that needs to sell now.
Bury Loui saves you 1.005 so he still have a 5 million cap hit. |

Then you obviously don’t believe a word Benning says. lol. - bloatedmosquito
lol not really. Most GM's in this league will say one thing and do another it is what it is.
Just with this particular MNGT group for me it was expected. Plus with our ownership putting pressure on JB to get this club close to the PO's for the 50th year it's all expected. |

I thought someone gave Winnipeg the 20 th OA two weeks ago? - VANTEL
That has nothing to do with the Flyers? Jets gave NYR their 2019 1st for Hayes then NYR gave it back in the Trouba trade.
Flyers gave the Jets a 5th rounder for Hayes. That’s it. |

What team do you think will eat 6 mil in cap space for Loui? - VANTEL
Well if 1 year of Marleau costs a first the 3 years of Loui costs 3 firsts ?
Benning needs to get rid of Loui and have it be a deal where he doesn’t give up picks m
I had two co workers in shambles this weekend with the canucks moves at the draft ...one guy even asked me if I had an extra flames jersey ....you know it’s bad when they are jumping ship to the flames

I thought those 5 did the best. SJ did the best with what they had.
Horrible undecided on Vancouver thanks to drafting 19 year olds and the two USHL players that were completely unknown to me. Maybe one turns out to be the next GAudette and Plasek turns out to be Ondrej Kase.
Didn't bring the same excitement I think we have had in the past couple drafts but could still surprise. Judd Brackett seemed very excited. - manvanfan
if podz and hoglander become top 6 forwards the draft was a success. |

Things need to happen.
I don't give a rats ass about Benning and his security for the next couple of years but I do care about progress of the team. If we can finish higher than 12 th next year then again to me it is a success.
The PP needs to change
The D needs to change
Canucks need to get rid of borderline NHL players
The top players need to have a good year again. - VANTEL
Newel and Baumgartner out.
Yes dump a bunch.
I think they will have another good season. |

There’s progress and then there’s jumping the shark.
The Miller trade doesn’t look like a move to simply improve the quality or depth of an unskilled team. To me, it’s an aggressive signal to all that they plan to speed this process up considerably to compete now.
That’s not what has be portrayed by management over the past season or so. |

Just hung out w Quinn for a bit in Yaletown. Asked him point blank about the Miller trade. He said “love it”

Something is up with Loui but we need to wait until July 1 but I know he won't be a Canuck next year and that is the main thing .
Vancouver has a city full of ledge jumpers. Benning farts and 15 minutes later on Twitter we find two more that jumped off the Burrard bridge. Ask them what size jerseys they wear . I will check the dumpsters for them. |

I thought this should be the year they make the moves. The overall picture is still the same . The core still is the core and they are the ones in a few years that will get us to where we want to go.
I think Pettersson is a special player. He is a winner.

That goalie was real good at the Jr's this year. I remembered thinking at the time he would be worth a late round flyer |

From your roster quick math and new contracts
Panarin cost probably 11
Leivo might be around 2 aah
Boeser 7
Renewed Hutton 2.3 (same as stecher)
The rest have contracts
Forwards 55 million
Defence 18.5
Goalies 4.7
I did factor in the performance bonus that Petey and Hughes will probably both hit for 3.3 million more
So total cost 78 million plus. Going to need 3 more players to fill out roster so probably 2 million more.
You would have to get rid of Sutter, Virtanen, Eriksson, Schaller, Spooner without holding any money back
Don't forget Luongo's cap hit of 800,000
Personally I think there could be a trade to be made with VGK just not that one. |

Yup, think they're just waiting to pay his signing bonus for the year and then sending him out
Only problem is what is coming back.... #lucic |

Team just needs to rid themselves of Sutter, Hutton, Schaller and Eriksson money so they can still sign Leivo, Virtanen, Boeser and Panarin
Did you see what it cost Toronto to get rid of a bad contract? - manvanfan

I think Van is trying to set up a move with Edmonton to swap for Lucic but the deal is so contingent on salary. What I think we will see is Loui get put into the minors and Benning will hope some team will pick him up but no-one will. If he is picked up everyone can take I giant sigh of relief. |

Coming from Europe he could go straight to Utica as well... get on the Ian Clark/ Dan Cloutier crash course in goaltending. Hey...just donned on me , have they resigned Clark yet? Haven't heard anything on it . |
