Yes. There is 6 million dollar cushion. Again, ive cited my source detailing this. I dont really see any evidence to the contrary other than you just disagreeing. - neem55
In the article, if you read it.
That’s not very practical, however, and most bonuses don’t get earned, so the CBA allows a bonus cushion, or 7.5 per cent of the upper limit of the salary cap. That is $5,962,500 this season.
See, not practical to have to include bonuses in contracts if they have not been earned.
Scroll down to the roll over
f the end of year cap space isn’t enough to absorb the bonuses actually earned, then the excess is rolled into the next year and counts against the salary cap.
Right there it doesn't say "including the bonus cushion". |

It’s too bad you can’t draft Miller’s skill set. Rare indeed. |

You are making it sound like there is a sponge at the top of the salary cap absorbing any amount that teams go over. This simply isn't true. There is, as Minivan has already explained, a mechanism to allow teams who do go over to transfer that bonus overage to the following year. But the team now needs to be cap compliant with the portion of last year's money included.
Go back and have a look at all the moves the Hawks had to make because of it after they won the cup. |

I literally pitched a JT Miller trade to my buddy at the draft 10mins before the real one was announced. I think he’s a perfect solution to the “can’t find linemates for Bo” issue. Same thing with Podkolzin - the one positive thing I said about him pre-draft was that he’d be an ideal Bo linemate (along with a guy like Miller). Anyways, seeing Benning say that Miller is a complimentary player for Petey & Boeser kind of ruined my brightside reaction to the swap. I definitely prefer him for Bo. - DrChristianTroy
Doesn’t matter what Benning says. He says a lot of things about where new players should fit into the lineup, but Green eventually plays them where he wants to.
Benning thought Gudbranson and Pouliot were a good pairing, they lasted like 5 or 10 games together. |

Myers isn’t difficult to play against. He’s less physical than guys like Edler and Del Zotto and about the same as Colin Miller |

Myers is exactly what we don't need.
If Benning does commit to him, it will solidify the decision to not extend him or fire him before his year is done, especially after the fans and everyone see's just how bad Myers is, and how awful it will be to have him play 5 more years after next. |

Picks for next season instead?
Everybody has always loved the Teuvo Teravian trade from Chicago to Carolina.
Teuvo was a mid first round pick for Chicago who had a single season of 35 points. Chicago still got a 2nd and 3rd round pick back for him but also included was a bad contract.
Vancouver got a player who has been a consistent 40 point player and is signed long term to a decent cap hit.
If Van would have had to take a bad contract with Miller, a 2nd and 3rd would have been more reasonable. They didn't though.
The uncertainty of giving up a 1st may or may not come back to bit the Canucks in the ass. Won't know until it happens. - manvanfan
I just don't think it is prudent to be trading 1st round picks that could potentially be a top 3 selection. I don't dislike Miller. He is 1000% better than Beagle, for instance. But the path I suggested the other day was sending out players for 1st etc when you have developed someone else to replace them. Trading Miller for a first and a third gives Tampa both the Cap relief they need right now, but also an opportunity to restock their prospect pipeline (two fold) for the future. |

Not sure if it was you that said it yesterday but if it is a top 3 pick in 2021 Benning will be long gone anyways so what does he care. |

Maybe not in here, but I listened to both stations yesterday and every fan that talked positively about Myers brought up “Canucks need to get tougher so I hope we sign him”
He’s an offensive dman who struggled in his own end and prefers to stick check instead of body check. |

Tyler Myers is the taller version of Colin Miller. A 3rd pairing defence who can put up 30 points a season.
Not worth 6 million dollars a season. Unfortunately with the cap where it's at, he's still probably worth 4-4.5 compared to similar players from previous cap percentages |

I guess. Not the kind of attitude you want from an e executive running a billion dollar business though. I think Benji and Franky shop at the same bath salt store. |

People will bring up the size and point totals and defend it. And then you’ll hear the same arguments that you did when Benning overpaid for other mediocre players “well we can’t just bring back the same team!”
No, you don’t have to bring back the same team but you also don’t have to overpay badly for mediocrity |

When I think of Myers I think of his shot. 9 G 31 pts. That is where it ends for me. It all comes down to cost and term before I will judge it. |

Colin Miller’s better IMO. Pair him w/ Rathbone in a year & give him some freedom to gunsling. |
