I have a few friends who are Jets fans. I can confirm both. They think Chevy is stupid, and they are stupid - 1970vintage
How the tables have turned on Chevy
Praised for his rebuild, praised for his drafting, praised for his cap management and after two playoff exits and players being traded. He's no fan favourite around here anymore. |

Cost aside, the more important question will be how much better relative to their rivals? We will have to wait a bit to make some guesses. - 1970vintage
It's too soon to say with free agency still upcoming. I think we both know that Benning is going to try had to add a dman.
And we have yet to see Vegas sell off a piece or 2 to get out of cap hell. |

chevy would be dumb not to engage with Myers agent and see what kind of $/term he is looking for, but from what I can see, the majority of that fanbase is ecstatic that they are finally rid of him. With Trouba gone, im hoping that Chevy re-signs him and we can put this speculation and option to rest, cause I want nothing to do with Myers.
Colin Miller and Benn IMO are perfect trades/signings at this point. - Codes1087
I think people might be shocked to see the cost of getting the other Miller. If you have 16 teams all looking for a low cap hit steady top 4 Dman Vegas might be licking their chops.

theres a reason every team wants him, and every team knows (now that the details of Karlsson's new extension were just released) that Vegas is in cap hell. They need to make a move, and Colin Miller makes sense. I don't think there will be a "buy low" option on him. |

As I said last night there are about 40 UFA Dmen and about 3 teams that can afford one.

If we make the playoffs and get bounced in four games it is still a big improvement over two years ago - VANTEL
listen pal, keep the homerism to a minimum, we're still not over the events of the weekend. |

My question, is what happens after that then? Benning won't have as much flexibility moving forward if he signs a dman this year. He'll have to give Brock a big raise that adds to the cap next year. Markstrom will want a raise too. EP gets a massive raise the year after that. Who knows when/if the Luongo recapture penalty hits us. He also has one less 1st round pick to work with.
Will he go back to trading 2nd and 3rd rounders to try and find another Sven if he no longer has ample cap space?

How many of those 40 can actually handle top 4 minutes against other team's top 6 forwards? I'd say the list gets a lot shorter, if you want to be a playoff team then you have to begin raising the bar again. Not bring another dude who's no better than Stecher/Hutton like EG and MDZ. |

Calgary - need to address goaltending
San Jose - will be tough bringing back their FA forwards
Vegas - cap issues
While each of these teams has some issues, I think they will sort them out quickly
Arizona - like Canucks, tons of injuries
Vancouver - need D
Edmonton - where to begin. But, new management/coach and they still have McD/Drai
I think these three teams are a coin flip as to who is better than the other guy
Anaheim - still think they can contend. I think they will stink.
LA - retooling on the fly while remaining competitive? |

Man, are we ever going to look bad when this team makes the playoffs next year and Lordy gets to "told you so" - 1970vintage
I think we have a good chance at making the playoffs. I really hope we do. Without injuries we would have been there imo. |

Markstrom will be in the 4 mil range or shopped ( all of this is just opinion not fact)
Tanev Schaller Spooner Biega all come off next year savings of 10 mil approx. No one really to sign that year other than Marky
Following year Sutter Pearson Sven come off approx 11.5 mil .
We don't know what will happen with Eriksson .
The cap will probably go up at least two mil per year .
The team will mostly be in place . I don't see it as a huge problem .
Sports betting also comes into play next year which should drive revenues (cap hit)

Panthers fans loved Gudbranson, Luongo and Willie Mitchell loves him. Prefs fans and Sharks fans didn’t exactly “love” Hamhuis and Ehrhoff. Crazy how that turned out.
Besides, I’ve seen plenty of Jets fans call Myers overrated. They worship Morrissey. - Nucker101 morrissey is one of the most underrated D in the league. Guys gold.

You said it all along "You are fully prpared for Myers to be a Canuck"
The only thing stopping him probably would be crazy contract demands |

Brock and EP was my main point, both will get huge raises over the next 2 summers. This might be Benning's last summer of fun, I'm not saying that he'll be in cap hell moving forward, but he won't exactly be swimming in cap space either. That's why this off-season is so crucial, and overpaying a guy like Myers long-term could really come back to bite Jim in the ass since it'll hurt his future flexibility. |

You act like I've been saying that with pure joy.
It's more like how I mentally prepare myself for bumper cars in the T&T Richmond parking lot or getting shot in Whalley on a Friday night. |

Brock will get his 7.5 x 5 this year off this cap .
EP : in the next two years the Canucks will shed 22.5 mil in cap without the cap increase taken in account. They should be able to figure out a deal. |

I am not worrying about Myers until it happens
He was in Yaletown last night though - VANTEL
I like the guy personally, I'm friends with their backup goalie, Laurent Brossoit and have met some of the Jets(and Oilers back when he played for them). Unlike Don, I don't drop the juicy details though, mainly because I don't want to get Laurent in poop
Tyler is a chill dude, not as cocky as some of their players lol, but I still wouldn't overpay him. |
