I can't believe some of your guys take from Friedman's comments is to compare it to the Leafs dealing a 1st to get rid of Marleau. Dealing a 1st to get out from that contract is horrible, and I wish we would have been in on it. Instead of buying him out, just let him play out the year or retire.
Friedman is right, there's absolutely no risk for Tampa Bay in this deal. They lose a solid player from a lineup that is stacked, but acquire two picks in the deal one of which can possibly become a lottery pick. I have a feeling that in less than two years guys defending the deal are going to be down on it.
Like many others, I have absolutely no issues with acquiring Miller. Given the circumstances, we overpaid. |

I like the guy personally, I'm friends with their backup goalie, Laurent Brossoit and have met some of the Jets(and Oilers back when he played for them). Unlike Don, I don't drop the juicy details though, mainly because I don't want to get Laurent in poop
Tyler is a chill dude, not as cocky as some of their players lol, but I still wouldn't overpay him. - Nucker101
I am really warming up to our first three picks of the draft yesterday. I think the second half was designed to make the Comets competitive. |

Agree with everything here. Friedman is praising Tampa and there's nothing wrong with that, if people are that insecure about this trade then deep down it means that they don't like it either. |

I still wanted Boldy and Zegras would've been a wet dream but the Ducks scouts are usually money so I didn't expect him to get past them. But Pod wasn't a bad pick.
I think Hoglander was great value, should've been a first round pick.
Keppen, I didn't watch but he sounds like a nice pick in the late 4th, fits the profile of more of a 2nd/3rd rounder.
They may all be Euros, but they play with some edge and fearlessness. I guess Jim got his "Euro skill and North American heart" |

I should've clarified, I was referring to those that like the deal that are annoyed by what Friedman said. It's okay to admit that Tampa got a nice return. |

My issue is actually with Friedman. He is starting to develop a bit of a hate on for the Vancouver fan base. He is trolling sometimes and I think his comments from yesterday was one of those times.
I laughed at TO giving up the first and watching Dumbass scurrying the floor yesterday to find no takers.
I know Vancouver and TO are in different stages , but I also like to fire a shot back when the golden boys of the media do something wrong too. Two wrongs don't make a right.
As far as yesterdays trade goes. Myinitial reaction was WTF. I am okay with the deal now.

Friedman is far from a Leafs fanboy man, the guy just gives his opinions, he's right about the Canuck fanbase on twitter being sensitive. You constantly make fun of that group yourself. |

I agree with part of this . I do make fun of the fan base.
I don't buy the part that he is not a fanboy but we won't get into a 14 page discussion

I disagree that it won't matter because I would like to have a first round pick every year until this team is a perennial playoff squad, but I agree that it'll lessen the blow for sure.
I can't lie and say that I'm not excited about the possibility of seeing Bo play with a legit playmaking top 6 winger that can shoot. It would be nice to be able to put out to legit scoring lines.
Haven't had anything like that since Henrik/Daniel/Burrows and Demitra/Kesler/Samuelsson. |

In the article, if you read it.
Thatâs not very practical, however, and most bonuses donât get earned, so the CBA allows a bonus cushion, or 7.5 per cent of the upper limit of the salary cap. That is $5,962,500 this season.
See, not practical to have to include bonuses in contracts if they have not been earned.
Scroll down to the roll over
f the end of year cap space isnât enough to absorb the bonuses actually earned, then the excess is rolled into the next year and counts against the salary cap.
Right there it doesn't say "including the bonus cushion". - manvanfan
Ya it doesnât cause it says it in thw paragraph before. If youâre going to cherry pick around it we dont have much to discuss |

Bo having someone legit to play with does make it more palatable. I feel he suits Bo more than Petey and Boeser. I hope Miller works out. |

The 13 goals is something I'm hearing get thrown around a lot, but he's good for 20+ goals when given a top 6 role over a full season, he can finish.
His career shooting % is 13.6
Brock Boeser's shooting % is 14.3 |

New blog is up, with my thoughts on the J.T. Miller trade, a rundown of Day 2's draft activity, and a quick look ahead at this week's free-agent talking period.

Sutter 2.0. I bet he ends up playing on the third line or the fourth line we lost a first him. |
