I don’t think Mitch will hear from as many teams as he thinks he will this week. Should be interesting, if he wants to go after as much money as he can that’s his decision I suppose, but I have a feeling there won’t be a ton of teams that he’s interested in that come kissing his feet. I’m excited to see him back as a Leaf next year.

i am not blaming you for not understanding how this works.
A matthews contract of 13mln AAV for 8 years would have been way better for the Leafs than his current 11.634 AAV on 5 years. it's an overpayment by Dubas. the 5 year deal should have been around 10mln AAV.

He also told me that he highly doubt he actually signs an offer sheet. He said there is no way Paul lets Mitch leave Toronto and his family willingly. This visiting teams is all a a tactic.

Marner 12mln AAV.

on a 5 year deal, Matthews signs at 11.6.
So Marner should come in somewhere between 10.5-10.9 AAV on a 5y deal.
Leafs are offering 10-11mln AAV on a 8 year deal.
quite obvious why Marner is looking at offersheets.

It's really hard to pay 4 first round picks for the opportunity to overpay a player. But GMs lose their minds sometimes.

Anything under 12 million/yr gets matched I think. Anything over, and I imagine he's gone.

Muzzin is a solid 3rd D (2nd liner) for the Leafs, that can bring some things (physicality) that other on the team cannot. I think as well that he is stronger on the offensive side than defensive side of play. good contract for what he brings, and i expect him to be better coming season than this season.

I remember when the Nylander contract was going on and everyone was female doging about his dad, people saying if you think this bad you have no idea when it comes to Paul Marner. I think a deal will get done, it just makes too much sense to stay.
