Agree with Rexypoo on Little. In two years he will be the 34 year old version of Matt Hendricks.
If the Jets had any guts they would try to trade him and if there is no takers or he doesn't agree to be moved they buy him out. According to capfriendly doing that the cap hit for him this year would be 475 k, the Jets would save 4.8 million in cap space and give someone else a shot a 2c, it would be the best 17 million they ever spent. - BWJumper
Just expanding on your post. Yes, you pay out 475 this year then look out.
He has 5 years remaining at 25.250 mill, buyout at 2/3 is total 16.833 mill owing over 10 years and saving 8.416 mill over 10 years. But the cap hit is 18 mill over the ten year period.
There is no way that will ever happen. |

Agree it won't happen. But look at his contract breakdown. The jets are gonna pay him nearly 17 million for the next 3 years.
I would rather pay him the 18 million over the next 10 years and not have him on the team tomorrow, then keep him for the next 3 and pay him 17

I see your point.
On another point, Morrow, Beaulieau and Rexy's beloved Dano will not be receiving qualifying offers today.
Also, for BWJumper, you can rest assured now that Hendricks won't ever be coming back to the Peg, he has retired and taking a job with the Wild. |

Farewell Mr. Dano !
I'll watch for you near the bottom of the KHL scoring leaders next season. |

Let’s help Vegas and Ottawa with their opposite ends of the spectrum cap problems and offer;
Roslovic and a third to Vegas for Marschessault and Miller
Then,
Connor and Kulikov to Ottawa for
Branstrom, And one of Formenton, Norris, Brown or Batherson
Our cap, D, and prospects pool all balance out, you are welcome Chevy! - Ross77
Ross, you’re almost always the voice of reason here, and you have my respect.
Having said that, are you f**kin high?!
Johnathan Marchessault is a top line forward signed long term at a low cap hit. He’s worth more than everything else in that trade combined, and it’s not particularly close.
Brannstrom alone is worth more than Connor, so that second deal is hung up on immediately. |

Maybe we will have a couple of our players come down with a degenerative back problem or a reaction to wearing hockey equipment.
Ta da - long-term injury reserve!

Sorry, my bad,.... It might seem like I was baiting for comment on the Non qualifying offers........
Jets qualified Laine, Connor, Copp, Pionk, Comrie, Nogier, |

No surprises here - If Beaulieu was making, say, $1M, believe they would qualify him.
But at what, $2.5, and they have to give them a 10% raise I believe, they couldn't afford him under present cap crunch. |

No apologies from me regarding Dano comments.
I'm actually quite pleased to see him cut loose. |

I for one am sad to see the Marko Dano era in Winnipeg end. I was really hoping he would crack the line-up next year.
I wish you all the best Mr. Dano. |

Rexypoo, regardless of what is fair, teams are in a cap crunch. This is where sharks smell blood in the water. I like the first deal. Not so much the second one.
Kyle Connor is a legitimate superstar who keeps improving year after year, unlike our other prized RFA who is on a downward career trajectory. |

Cap crunch is when you trade Patches or Stastny, not Marchessault.
Also, Connor actually took a step back last year, with everyone else |

Adam Lowry is our second best play driving forward. He literally elevates teammates more than anyone but 2018 half Mark Scheifele - Rexypoo
Rexy - I will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you not his one ... even though I'm just an eye-test guy ... Lowry at $2.9M is just too good - it's a steal
Ville Heinola - was considered a reach at #20 but I side with what Brian Burke said on national coverage:
“I will never question Kevin Cheveldayoff in the amateur draft because they’ve done such a good job so it’s probably a good pick.”
I also remember folks saying Sheifs and Morrissey were reaches, too .... and I am more than good with those two |

This is objectively correct.
Ehlers had Little. Rantanen had MacKinnon. |

no need to apologize for being an eye test guy. eye test is living, breathing, 3D, colour with context added that so far analytics haven't completely accounted for.

The eye test also reveals that Tanev is the only true Selke level player on the TLC line. Only one out the three that has ever gotten a vote. |

The Jets were poor defensively last year. No forward on the team deserved consideration. When we can shut down teams for the last 5 minutes of a game then lets talk about who is worthy. |

Lol, I know I was dreaming here, but sometimes I like to imagine a world where a lopsided trade would go in our favour. |

I'd take just a quality return in a trade. Right the the best the Jets have done is:
1. 2 years of Frolic
2. One stanley cup run with Stastny
3. 3 and a half years of Myers. |
