I’d do it. But I don’t see why Colorado would want to after turning down 16th overall pick. I think they just don’t want to trade for a guy with only one year left on deal.

Someone just called in and had a pretty good idea..trade Shatty for a another bad contract and buy out that guy. Only works if the buyout is better and the other team wants him lol obviously. The caller brought up Jake Allen and his wouldn’t be terrible. Just an idea

I would buy out both Shatty and Smith, and bring back McQuaid (if officially a UFA) on a two year term, since effective for the following 2020/21 season, the Rangers as of now would have only three current roster players still having at least 2 years remaining on their contracts, in Zib (2 years), Skjei (3), and Fox (2), all of whom we would never later worry of having to buy out.

We also await for Trouba and Kakko to join that extended signed roster list, along with possibly as of today, four non roster players each having 2 years remaining on their deals starting in 2020/21. Of those four non roster players, Kravtsov will likely be part of their pro roster starting this season. So there should be no need to worry as well on these latter three specific additions to ever have the need of being bought out.

I was away for a few days for vacation, as I noted before I left and made sure I posted a blog very early Sunday morning with a draft recap.

The Kreider to Colorado for the 16th pick was stated that Colorado was unwilling to include that pick for Kreider, so wonder if that means other pieces were also part of the deal besides that pick for CK20.

No other salient rumors exist at this point, save for pure speculation. But if no Panarin, that's where the fun will start to see where NY goes.

Taking on a decent $ hit for the future even if Dan Girardi's buyout expires after this year by buying out Shattenkirk and Smith. I think Smith is more likely to be bought out.

Even though like you Jan, I feel it's a must to extend Kreider, & especially with Panarin likely heading to Florida, the Rangers should only consider some type of deal or package exchanged with the Sharks only if Meier is coming in return somehow.
