If someone wants to pay him Hayes money, they can have him. - aecliptic
I mean Kreider is >>>>>>>>> Hayes. 7 million is probably a little high still, but I'd pay him that if it came to it. |

What is your expectation of a player making 7mil per year? |

It's gone down a bit since the market is going crazy. Just remember, Krieder has gotten just under 30 goals twice (including last year) and has 4 20 goal seasons in like 6 years. Hayes is coming off a career year by a pretty decent stretch. I can justify 7 million way more with CK. |

You manipulate words and try to justify giving him 7mil by saying hes been just under 30 goals twice. However, what about saying hes never scored over 30 goals. Hes never had more than 25 assists, and his highest point total is 53 points. Hes never played a full 82 games.
Based on your expectations of Chris Kreider 7 years ago versus what he actually turned into; has he met your expectations? |

Ok, he's scored 28 goals twice. I don't think that's manipulating words saying he's scored just under 30 twice. He's one of the better power forwards in the league, the assists numbers don't bother me. I don't think anyone holds it against Skinner for example that he isn't racking up the assists. Really, you want your playmaking centers and offensive D to dish out the pucks. I would say he's about where we could have reasonably expected a later 1st to be. He's a perennial 20+ goal scorer. Would it have been great if he was a 30-35 guy every year? Of course. Those guys also are starting to get paid close to 10 million a year.
I think 7 is pretty fair when we live in a world where Skinner and Stone is getting 9 and we expect Panarin to get 11. Those players are better than CK, but they are also getting paid more.
So it begs the question, what were your expectations of CK? |

Seems to me, signing Paranin, or signing Kreider, and not the other makes little sense. If they can’t fit both, then trade Krieder, and pass on Paranin, and continue to be patient for the next 2 years, when another 8.5 mil becomes available.
Of course, getting Lundqvist to waive his NMC, and rid themselves of at least 50% of his contract would help, might even be able to fit both CK, and Paranin. Then I woke up. |

I feel like the worst thing to ever happen to CK was the 2012 playoffs. It's like people were expecting him to turn into Ovi or something. As a fan I thought he could become a 30+ guy, but he's pretty much been our most consistent player over the past several seasons. |

hey TPC, did you ever get that rib delivered? |

My expectations are for him to be a consistent player scoring 30+ goals, 60+ points. Someone who doesnt disappear on the ice with the kind of regularity that he does. His style of play will only cause him to miss more games than he already does. Hes essentially a Ryan Callahan and when the time came for him to get paid, a lot of what I said above about Kreider were the reasons why we didnt hold onto him.
I get it, as Rangers fans, we are incapable of moving on from players we’ve drafted. |

If we don't get Panarin, we need CK. Our LW would be looking pretty thin then. Here's the list of LW Ufas that year BTW

I think there is 0% chance Ovi makes it to UFA. Are there any of those guys on that list that would be better options than CK? |
