feeling a bit apprehensive about Provorov. He has more leverage than the other RFA's IMO.

"With the salary cap ceiling now officially set at $81.5 million for 2019-20, it would be problematic to sign Provorov to an ultra-long term contract that ties him through UFA years at a cap hit of $7.5 million or above (the Ekblad range). They Flyers would still have the cap space to sign their other RFAs this offseason but they still also need to sign a goaltender."

so great spending to the cap again

More from Scrouching on some of the other guys. Egor(Yegor) Serdyuk, Bryce Brodzinski, and Ronnie Attard. Just brief overviews as he goes down a list of players that could be available at various Leaf picks. Click on the description to see the time for each player.

Also if you search youtube gor Egor Serdyuk you'll see highlights of 5 nations games from 2018 were he was pretty dominate. 3g, 1a against Sweden and 1g, 2 assists vs Finland. He was #18. The description shows the box score

If I'm those other teams I'm not interested in Fletcher setting the market for young dmen.

I am vaguely worried about Provorov. I understand that this is the business side of the game. I say vaguely because the warning signs were there since last season.

The draft was interesting. The only thing I really got a sense of opportunism. They went to the store when there was a sale. Organizational depth has been helped.

We shall see.

Bill,

What is your gut feeling on Ghost? Is he getting traded?

And what do you think the market value is for Konecny and Laughton?

just the negotiating process with Provy. I expect McVoy or Werenski to get signed. Once one gets signed, the others will follow. I m very encouraged it appears Sanheim will get done rather easily.

I offer Provy 6.5 and if he wants to sit out after a poor season let him do it. He's only hurting his own value around the league the longer it takes for him to return to form.

I dont think a D man will be traded until the Provy deal gets done. Fletch has all the leverage right now by saying they can carry 7 D men without Provy.

Provy had a down year and instead of being the crazy insane training maniac he was known for hes drinking tequila and eating ice cream everyday on beaches with his girlfriend. He hasnt had the consistency or prowess of werenski yet. I hope we do play some hard ball here. Frankly he hasnt earned this mega deal he wants.

Well yeah, but this is all about money on his end and holding out after a down season does not look good.

4 years 6 million is what I would go on provy.

Minutes are one thing, but with the puck on his stick, he doesn’t have the vision of a player who gets star money yet.

He is great in his own zone without the puck, but that does’t make you a complete player or an 8 million dollar defenseman.

I agree that it’s a good bet that he can figure the offensive part of playing d out. But at this point I would rather have the puck on ghost’s stick or sanheim’s stick and maybe niskanen’s stick rather than his.

The third or fourth choice for possession on d should get a bridge and not a long term deal unless it is weighted toward the club side.

And if the agent is using ekblad as the comparable, that is the perfect reason for the club to sign a bridge deal.

Oh no, he’s enjoying his offseason. 😱

It was reported a month ago he was still training.

Bill,

What’s your opinion on the Flyers’ overall grit-level? TK certainly brings it with his sandpaper style of play, but otherwise I strongly feel that the team is lacking a degree of physicality throughout the lineup. Hexy, for the longest time, would say things like, “we have team toughness” (whatever that is, and perhaps that was somewhat relevant when Wayne was here). I think the Blues (obviously) have a solid blueprint in place, whereby a mix of skill and physicality are huge assets.

Along those lines, are you confident Morin can stay healthy enough THIS season to be an every day player?

Thanks, Bill!

I may be wrong on this, I am definitely not a CBA expert, but I think 4 years walks him right into UFA. Is that what the Flyers want to do with him?

No way I sign Provorov to a long term deal until I see which player is the real Provorov...His rookie year or last year when he sucked

You mean like tying for the league lead in goals by a defenseman despite getting limited PP time?

Yeah, I think he'll get that figured out some day.

If the Flyers can get a favorable cap number on a long term contract because of his down year, I think they should jump on it.

I just don't think his agent will let that happen.

I’d be very happy if they sign to a 6 yr deal at 6.7 per range.
Buys a couple of years of UFA, and they get him for his prime years.

But that was also the kind of deal I was hoping Hayes would get when they traded for his rights.
So who knows.

I do think they’ll get something done by training camp and avoid a hold out.

No way Ghost or Hagg gets moved until Provy and Sanheim are signed.

Provy should get 8/56mil. Both sides get a little now and later. New cba probably gonna eliminate long contracts. Lots of talk of 5 year max deals.

If Toronto gets Kapanen and Johnsson signed to the deals reported by McKenzie, they are very good benchmarks for Konency and the Flyers.

Just to make sure the team positive wasn’t looking through Flyer colored lenses at the draft:

ESPN’s Chris Peters had the Flyers as one of his winners from round one (while the Penguins were a loser), and in his draft grades (paywall) he had more praise for Fletcher and Co. after the draft was complete.

The Flyers were one of five teams to receive a grade in the ‘A’ range with four teams (Hurricanes, Kings, Devils, Rangers) receiving an ‘A’, while the Flyers received an ‘A-’. However, the Devils and Rangers’ grades were more about lucking into the top two picks than anything else.
