It’s called collusion |

Wild bill set to sign 8/46-48mil per McKenzie. Around 1.5 mil year less than Hayes and at least 25%better player. Thoughts🤔[/img] |

Not defending the Hayes deal, but sounds like Karlsson didn’t want to leave Vegas. Team had some leverage there. |

Maybe... term on Hayes just irks me. I actually like Hayes. And can live with last few years if they turn out bad. |

If the Flyers can get Provy at 7 mi for 8 years, they should sign it today.
That is a no-brainer. |

Karlsson is an RFA. You are comparing apples to oranges. |

My thoughts are that there are some teams and cities that have created a culture of winning along with a nice place to live to entice free agents.
Vegas didn’t need 50 years of premium regular season hockey to accomplish it |

Karlsson is 26 years old. So he had one more year of RFA? It’s not like he’s 21 and the deal is through a large amount of RFA years
This was an absolute steal of a deal. Must be nice |

Absolute steal is right. He definitely didn’t want to leave. He could have forced their hand for at least another million, million and a half per year very easily.

All true and I admire Vegas but they were an expansion team and had clear evidence what the new NHL was all about, they got to pick players for today’s game and didn’t hand left over contracts of undesirables. |

He still getting 8 yrs and only around 2 million less on total value then Hayes. It s not that much of a discount, they just used the extra year to spread out the total value. It s a fair deal for both sides, a little risky on the management side, but contracts past 5 yrs is pretty much always the case. |

Watch him get no nmc. The only saving grace with the Hayes deal is the last two years are 5.25 I think in real dollars. Hello arizona |

I don’t think you guys paid anything that much different than he would’ve gotten from somewhere else so it’s not like I think the flyers got completely reamed. Hayes is also a good player who will improve the team. But saying that Hayes only got an extra million more so it’s not as though WKs deal isn’t much cheaper isn’t apples to apples because they aren’t the same player.
Bottom line Vegas is paying less for more, likely because of WKs not so secret desire to remain there short of being egregiously low balled. |

That would actually be pretty funny seeing as how his whole priority was getting to stay in Vegas for eight years anyway and he ends up not holding their feet to the fire for one.
He could have really stuck it to them if he wanted. Basically an extra million he leaves on the table allows them to save another roster player with how tight they were on the cap.
Wish the pens were actually in a position to capitalize on Colin millers inevitable departure |

I really like Provy..I think he is going to be amazing.
For him to be asking for Ekblad money at this point is 100% ridiculous and the Flyers should not pay that. |

I think his agent told him to take the summer off and let him do his thing tbh. If it gets to the point of a hold out I think Provy caves pretty easily at a fair Flyers offer. |

I think there is inherent risk on any player over the last few years of a contract over 5 yrs because these contacts involving max term or close to it are signing at 26 or 27 yrs of age. I never begrudge a player getting paid. That s all my basic point. That s why I m always in favor in signing your own long term after the first contract, then bridge deal. A deal that expires when a player is around 31, less chance of a physical decline. Perfect example Roman Josi was on a terrific contract for cap purposes. The next contract he signs, good chance cap hit to production won t nearly be as good. Very few players can age as gracefully as Bourque, Lidstrom, or Chara. |
