I hate people. "We dont need/want Malkin." - Mentalorgasm5
It's ridiculous. If PGH can offload him and Kessel for some young players to surround Crosby with, that's their best course of action. Sh!t, I'll take both of them. 1st, 2nd, Nylander and Thompson for Malkin and Kessel. |

The athletic had a great article on the future of the sport. Cap space is everything. He doesn't make sense for us right now |

Cap space helps get the good players. That was the point. It is the new currency. |

Guhle is at the same trajectory Montour was at 21.
From the outside, it looks like we traded Guhle and 29 for "Guhle + 4 years" |

It's less about Guhle for me and more about Montour. He's a 2nd pair guy when he gets sheltered minutes.
It's like, did you really need to move 2 of your best trade assets to land this guy? |

I feel Botts overpays when he wants something, so yes....question mark.

I can't believe I have to defend getting a quality nhl d for a guy that was heading towards non prospect status and a low first. Leafs fans were female dogging that they traded a first for muzzin and not Montour. |

And as we all know, they are geniuses. The Guhle part I get, the earlier you can recognize a failing prospect, the quicker you can pull off a deal for a valuable player, so that it's not a wasted investment. Not saying he is or isn't, just that I recognize the value in doing that.
But it depends on your definition of quality. Whatever Montour brings offensively, he gives back defensively over the course of a season. This is all in a sheltered role by the way. When the ducks gave him any kind of defensive responsibility, he crapped himself. |

Really? Where? They traded him because he was going to cost a lot in his next contract because he is a good d. I was really impressed by him after we got him. |

yeah right, it eliminates our need to sign any FA's, free's up a ton of cap space for PGH and let's them explore free agency.
Malkin and Kessel's ages and contracts drive their value low and Botts knows peeps. |
