Omfg that's TERRRRIBLE.

There was a great tweet over the weekend after it was said that Tyler Myers was already in Vancouver to visit and that was after they traded their 1st for JT Miller that said "Um..... anyone have any idea wtf the Nucks are doing?"

The Vancouver Canucks have reportedly expressed interest in pending unrestricted free-agent Gustav Nyquist.
We are currently in the interview period ahead of free-agency and the Canucks are trying to line up an interview with the Swedish forward. Nyquist is coming off a great season, totaling 22 goals and 60 points in 81 games. It appears that Vancouver is trying to get fellow countrymen Elias Pettersson and Nyquist together for the upcoming season.

I actually have been a big fan of Nyquist back when he was in Detroit.. but now he's nearly 30 and coming off a very good year. He's going to command 8M AAV I bet... just like Dzingel is too with how the league is going.

There isn't a GM in this league or any other that would pay him 8 mill a year.

I'm hopeful that Boterill and Krueger can ease whatever involvement that they have. I know that you want to see a return on investment, but they need to let go a little bit. I'm assuming that they have their hands out of the Bills cookie jar more than in years past, so it's time to do the same with the hockey team.
- thatsapickle

So the buffalo bills look like they're on the upswing and found a franchise qb after 25 years.

"I'm assuming they (the pegulas) have their hands out of the cookie jar."

They get zero credit.

Just watch... it's gonna happen.

Kevin F'n HAYES just got 7M. Nyquist was just making 5M on his last contract.

Nyquist had 61, Dzingel had 56, and Lee had 51. All of them are in their late 20's (their prime). I see it happening.

My picks 2/3 of these:
- Trade for either Hall & Zucker.
- Sign Forwards - Simmons, Ryan Dzingel or Donskoi
- Defense - Ghost or Miller (once 55 is gone)

**if Myers signs elsewhere, the Jets will be very agressive for D help - Risto might get us Elders or maybe we add - Nylander, next years 1st etc... for Laine.

Possibly some targets!!

Taylor Hall, LW / New Jersey Devils
As TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta recently reported, Hall is not presently interested in signing an extension with the Devils. If that remains the case (and Hall has said he’s being patient), the Devils might be forced to trade him. He has one-year left on his deal and could command a significant return.

Phil Kessel, RW / Pittsburgh Penguins
The Kessel trade rumours have picked up a little earlier than normal this summer, and got kicked into high-gear when he nixed a move to Minnesota. The Penguins are trying to shake up part of their roster and plan on dealing Kessel at some point this off-season.

Jason Zucker, LW/RW / Minnesota Wild
Minnesota almost traded Zucker twice — once to Calgary during the season and once in May for Kessel, who nixed the deal — and it’s safe to say the writing is most certainly on the wall. The Wild plan on moving him as they continue to makeover their roster

Shayne Gostisbehere, D / Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers are expected to be very active this summer, both in free agency and on the trade front, and given the team’s desire for another top-six weapon, Gostisbehere could be shipped out for help up front.

Jesse Puljujarvi, RW / Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers and new-GM Ken Holland are expected to have a conversation with Puljujarvi and his agent about his future in Edmonton. If there’s room to move forward and put the past behind them, he could stay. Otherwise, he’ll be a trade chip for Holland to use this summer.

Colin Miller, D / Vegas Golden Knights
All of a sudden, the Golden Knights are up against the salary cap. They can free up $5.25M in space by placing David Clarksson on LTIR, but that won’t give them the space they need. Moving Miller and his $3.875M hit might give them extra breathing
room.

Joe Pavelski, 34, is coming off of a five-year, $30 million contract and will likely see his salary climb well north of $6 million per year on his new deal.

Wayne Simmonds is in the final-year of a six-year, $23.85 million contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1. He also owns a 12-team no-trade list and will have a say in where he ends up

I fail to see what the Wings retaining changes on what his last current salary was? He was making nearly 5M. Him going up to 8M as the best winger on the market besides Panarin.

Panarin is supposedly going to get 10-11M.

Totally agree. Like the player but his last contract was at $4.75 and he'll get at least 7-8. These UFA's will sign big contracts, best thing is for us to stay away.

With the way the markets are shaping right now.

Nyquist, Lee, Dzingel will all get that 7.5-8M starting point.

Connolly, Donskoi, Mats, Ferland, Chiasson will get 4-6M AAV I bet as well.

I'm moderately confused. I wasn't giving them credit for the Bills since they seem to trust Beane and McDermott.

I haven't had enough caffeine or sleep to read sarcasm if that was intended.

I really wish we could trade for our 3rd back from Carolina, and use it in an offer sheet.

I can see a couple of these moves happening.

Pavelski and Simmonds I would shy away from due to age and cost.

I would look at the second tier of free agents after the dust settles a bit. I think there could be some nice players there that won't cost a ton.

I don't get the sense that Botts wants to play the offer sheet game. His focus might be more on trades. This is a big summer for him to make the moves needed for a better roster come October.

We need to fix the 2nd line and get Mitts at 3C.

Absolutely. These are the guys I really wouldn't mind signing. And in order of want IMO.

Tier 2: Johansson, Connolly, Ferland, Chiason, Maroon (can't picture him wanting to leave STL his hometown), Brassard

Tier 3: Vanek, Pommer, Sheahan.

True Statement.

I think he cup chases though. If he doesn't go back to SJ on a team friendly deal, I see him being Nashville's fall back plan if Duchene prices himself out.

WSH, DAL, BOS, & maybe NYR in the mix as well JV3.5

I like Connolly and Benn. But if Connolly is pushing 5 per on a contract I'll pass. Sheahan would be fine for the 4th line, wouldn't also mind Colin Wilson. Patrik Nemeth could be an interesting look at LD. And Brandon Tanev would be a nice add.

Anyone...

Some people are saying that Botts already outright said that Cozens needs to go back to Juniors... I had thought that I saw him say he would get the same chance in camp as anyone else and maybe the 9 game tryout?

I'd really like to take a run at Perry.

He's also 34 like Pavelski, so I'm guessing he will want to chase a cup.
