The only solace is that we will likely have some compliance buyouts sooner rather than later. I would rather Myers now and wait a year for Barrie(if it is true he wants to come home) than trade for Barrie now. Keep Tanev for the year to be our cap saving for Barrie.
Edler/Myers
Hughes/Tanev
Benn/Stetcher
You can't argue that this is not a better top 6 than last year. The problem will be cap/term with Myers. - Retinalz

I'll be happy to defend that signing! Imagine all that tail he'd get atthe Roxy! He's a big man, so obviously big feet and you know what they say about that
7x7 is not a big deal....in 3 years $7 will be the same as 4.5 today.....immediately adds size, is a right-handed shot a huge target for Edler to drop pass to.... - chompsey
Exactly. People talk about “weaponizing cap space”
That’s exactly what Benning is doing here, he’s signing a 7ft top 4 dman in his prime to upgrade our defense. |

I have had enough of the small pus$y defence. We just get walk over. Myers would go a long way improving that department. I had hopes for Tryamkin but... you never know. |

Myers, Edler, Schenn (& Tryamkin?) would be quite a sizeable defence corp, though I wonder if they could catch anyone!

Not Lou's fault......Game 5 was a MASSIVE steal by Lou when they needed it.
A depleted lineup did Vancouver in at the end of the day. Boston was relatively injury-free.... - chompsey
Agree...but again all he had to do was steal ONE game in Boston.

Sure it’s kind of dirty but I wouldn’t put that one close to the Rome hit ...guy going full speed and doesn’t have the puck or two guys barely moving and guy doesn’t have the puck ...
That play happens hundreds of times in the playoffs ...if Bambi wasn’t so brittle you would never mention it - Redmile247
lol Boychuk crosschecked Raymond downwards over the top of his head on to his shoulders all the while Raymond was falling back into the boards. It was worse than the Rome hit with intent...but Boston sure wasn't penalized like Rome |

Hughes and Stecher? Hutton had a pretty good season. I wouldn't count him out. If Myers and Tryamkin did get on here its a very different look. |

The cap will go up exponentially by the 3rd year of the deal as the US tv deal will be inked |

If vpod buys out his last year, and him and Tree come over in a years time... that’d be a much more sizable team! |

It’s actually better to sign players to max term deals now then
Another reason to meet Myers asking price.

I saw that graph the other day and wondered how Boston has quality that high with Zboril and Senyshyn among others - NorthNuck
Teams that have been drafting the highest in that time are going to screw with the stats quite a bit.
Edmonton McDavid, Draistail
Toronto Nylander, Matthews, Marner
Winnipeg, Laine, Connors, Ehlers
Columbus PLD, Werenski
Van Boeser, Pettersson
Since it is about Wins above Replacement. Pretty much dominated by the best players from those years.
Tampa's pick value isn't great because they have been picking lower but Brayden Point has been outstanding. |

it's awesome to see that the canucks are ready to compete. i just hope that the team goes uber-benning this summer. if they really want to re-make the d, sign myers to whatever he wants. give winnipeg a pick to trade for his rights so you can sign him to an 8 year deal. 7 is good but 8's great!
and then go all in to get barrie. why wait until next year? they absolutely need to make the playoffs and barrie is the missing piece.
benning has shown that he's a fair negotiator. he'll get it done! |

Yeah -- agree that Hughes & Stecher have the wheels to keep up, though they are both smurfs. pair them up with the bigger players, except on the PK.
For completeness, I'd say Tanev & Hutton would be the tweeners - by which I mean only in respect to size & pace.
While most teams wouldn't want to carry 8 D, on this oft-injured team that would be an issue only for the first couple of weeks of the season! |

Agree... To compete you need decent size throughout the lineup. You can have some small players but you need as many or more players with size as well. |
