Ok, (frank) it, sign Myers, trade for Barrie. Let’s do this! - 1970vintage
Well, we do need to make the playoffs either this year or next, without fail. |

Myers and Gardiner could look an awful lot like Lucic and LE defensemen edition in a few years. - golfingsince
Exactly just more drag on the cap.
Miller is better value even if giving an asset if JB uses his cap advantage properly this time. |

VGK is in a pickle but which team is the 1st domino to trade with them will set the bar. So much is yet to come league wide. Teams dealing with cap issues might be left behind while other teams make their moves. |

Miller does nothing to fix our D, actually nothing that happened around the draft did except the Edler signing.
Also, if he signs another damned FA bottom 6 player I may lose my poop. |

Miller 3/3.88m
That’s a good contract that many teams will get in on. The price they set might surprise ppl & don’t think he will be given away. |

He isn’t a fix he allows a changing of gears. I cannot see another UFA bottom 6 signed here. |

Yeah, they're going to try and create a bidding war. Meanwhile, wait it out and let teams spend money in free agency. As rosters fill up, there will be less bidders. A dangerous game to play if you're Vegas once July 1st rolls around.
(frank) it, it you strike out fixing the D then you're going to have no choice but to play some youth. The worst case scenario is our draft pick in 2020 is protected and there's ample cap space moving forward. |

The unexpected lower cap has thrown a wrench into many teams problems. The trick is how some teams can take advantage. Lots of player movement is coming. |

It has to be hard to resist sacrificing the future to try and become a playoff team now. All I know is that this was Benning's 6th draft, it's time to start seeing some D get some NHL playing time (aside from Hughes). |

Time for JB to play hard ball.
Starting with RFA’s. BB 5/7m max.
Trades he gets his man at his price or walks away. If it means playing Rafferty etc do it. Saving the cap for another day is fine. The TDL will be one of the more interesting ones this time around. The e-draft is impacting everything sooner than later. |

Myers is a better dman than the likes of Hutton, Pouliot, Biega and Schenn - Nucker101
That might be the case but those are the Dmen that will be playing when Myers is on the IRL. |

Hopefully his last, although lets see how much further he mortgages the future in free agency before I hop on the ferry with a knapsack full of bath salts. |

Especially when it might not be your future you're saving for or sacrificing. Dude doesn't even have a contract past this year, why not go balls out? |

Fixing the D:
I don't know if this is what they think but Canucks do have a bit good thing IMO.
I won't get into whether I think Myers long term is good or bad because I haven't seen his new contract.
Edler is a reliable 2 year deal that should bring 30 points.
Tanev is playing his last year here and hopefully he can improve his trade value.
Hutton MDZ Pouliot are all gone thank Christ.
Brisebois and Sautner can easily replace Hutton or hold the fort until Juolevi is ready. I believe he will be ready later this year but be ready for a Ristolainen type guy. Put up points but there will be lots of Mistakes.
Woo will be ready within two years and he will be solid.
Tryamkin looks like he is gearing up to return after April
Rathbone everyone knows the story on him so why repeat it.
Canucks did sign three very good NCAA free agents and I think one will be NHL talent if not two.
I am not agreeing or disagreeing with Benning but I think this whomever they sign should be the last of the long term Free Agents signing he will do. I think if it is Nyquist and Myers he will have the team he finally wants.
Edit : He may go after Barrie next year also seeing he is part of his bucket list. |

I wish Benning would wait and see what we really have in Hughes before signing someone questionable for long term. |

Legitimately I cannot think of a single moment where Benning played hardball and won; he rarely leverages his organizational strengths against other teams so I just cant see him starting today
I would guess Boeser will get $8+ from Benning. Boeser's camp knows Pettersson will get in the $11-12 range from them, so they will keep the gap closer |
