Oh there are plenty of flaws with my fantasy proposal. But, I'd gladly have the problem of having too many good players on the team, that one gets sacrificed to Seattle.
Pulijarvi has not shown he can play in a top 6 imo.
Goldy does not belong on that line with JV and Gaudette either imo.
3 rookie Dmen and 2 on a line is a recipe for disaster, and would mean Hutton is retained.

Pullijarvi is gonna be a star. Just not in Edmonton. |

It's a decoy so fans can be outraged over this contract and when the real outrageous contract is signed next week Canucks fans will be all outraged out. |

Maybe...but I doubt he makes the team. He's not better then the top six we have and he is useless in bottom six role so where does that leave him? Press box until injuries hit perhaps....or down to Utica? |

Carol,
I just saw on The Score that Elliot Freidman wrote that Canucks won't be qualifying Ben Hutton. Do you think it would make sense for the Canucks to do a trade with the Oilers to swap RFA's? Hutton for Puljujarvi? |

Canucks would have to add a bit, but I’d definitely make that trade. |

Probably only a one year show me contract. If he has a good offseason and comes in stronger, then great. If it’s the same as last year, pump and dump or just straight up dump. Not the worst thing. |

Moving Tanev is counterproductive without getting another RHD. Hard enough already to get one without moving him. - Nighthawk
Absolutely. .....beyond crazy to be trading away your good D when the D is as weak as it is |

I wonder if this makes the Granlund - Shinky trade a wash now?
Also, Goldy is still probably the best fit with Petey. Until next week when we sign Panarin anyway. |

I can’t count Edler getting a reasonable contract as a win, he still gave an aging defenseman big cash and a no-move, we’ve just been numbed by such bad contracts that we feel good when we give one for slightly above market value. It isn’t like Benning got a hometown discount - WhiteLie
Ah yes, the patented, all wins are not wins for JB, but all losses are JB's fault...you cum guzzlers will never stop with that narrative eh? |

Granlund played 219 games for Vancouver, Shinkaruk played 14 games for Calgary.....Im pretty sure thats still a win for Vancouver even when its a pretty inconsequential transaction.... |

Sorry, you feel good about that deal? The fan base has been bracing themselves for this signing for months. “If it’s 3 years I’m going to burn the city down - it’s only 2? Ok I can live with that...”
Pathetic bunch of lemmings. |

How else would you like to measure it? Is there a satisfactory statistic that will satiate the hate? Is Granlund responsible for the losses? Would Shinkaruk given Vancouver more wins? Pretty subjective poop..... |

I don’t know, just trying to pick a fight, guess it isn’t working. I mean come on, you have three hours on me, I’ve barely had my first coffee and you're probably already on your third beer. |

I wouldn’t put Whitey in with the BB’s, he’s more of a keeping it real kinda guy. |

Are you suggesting that had the trade not occurred, Hunter could have played more NHL games in Vancouver? |

In the context of my original post, getting a fair deal isn't playing hardball. I like the deal, he did well; but Edler getting market value on a 2-year deal isn't some home-run win.
Someone said it was time for him to play hardball and I just don't see him as that kind of GM. I have a few areas where I wish Benning was stronger, but overall I have been fine with and understood many of his moves, even when they dont work out |
