Between miller trade and the impending overpayment of myers, there’s not much positive. I for one really like what Miller brings, but now i find myself hoping we don’t make the playoffs next year even though i think this od a bubble team... which kind of sucks. If we made it to the playoffs and pulled a first round upset that could be another positive outcome i guess - neem55
Please dont take this as a criticism at you, but, what I find so (frank)in frustrating is fans hoping the Canucks lose to acquire a potential "star" to get better.
Like they actually cheer for the Canucks to lose.
The team's trajectory is up, so, I applaud the efforts of management to try and supplement that with a strong proven commodity versus a virtual lottery ticket bottom half 1st round pick with no guarantee this pick will become anything.
Obviously it can, but the numbers dont support it. Its a calculated risk that could backfire but the numbers are in the Canucks favor here.
How can you cheer for your team to lose and call yourself a fan? That poop boggles my mind.
If JB signs Myers, so be it. Its not my money and it night just actually help the team. What a novel idea! It could be a positive! it could also blow up, but we will have to wait and see on that.....its not like players improve or anything on a new team ever.... |

My only issue with the trade was the condition. I would much prefer the condition to be a 2020 2nd and 2021 2nd if we fail to make playoffs. If we make the playoffs, I don't mind losing a first for a player that will give us a total of 4 good years and can be flipped in the last year if we need to. Our prospect pool has never been stronger, and can handle loosing a pick between 16-31 next year. But it can't handle losing a potential top 10 pick in 2021 for Miller. |

I really like Miller, I think he'll be a great fit and hope, on top of his skill, that he brings a bit of the energy/grit that they lost with Dorsett.
The first rounder stung me for a bit, especially since the conditions were not based on Miller's performance, but ultimately I thought they would need to tank one more year before going for it, so it kinda fits in my expected timeline of getting in once over the next two years. At least now there is some pressure/direction, the last couple seasons have felt like "we might contend, or play kids, we'll see how we feel each week" |

The over payment shouldn't come as a surprise, that's the teams MO when they set their sights on someone. |

I bought into the hype that this was the offseason for predatory deals to be made with cap-strapped teams |

At least this should unite the fanbase into hoping for the most successful season possible this year? |

Bro, you’re defending Loui Eriksson.

I am ok if they keep their pick this year and have a strong season the following year. As it currently stands, I don't think they have the depth to weather the usual amount of injuries this team faces and stay in the hunt, but its still super early and lots of changes can still happen |

Was talking with a relative of Brett Connolly last night. Said he was hoping to sign in Vancouver. Will be interesting to see if that comes true. |

Connolly would be great with Leivo and gaudette. Then you can explore trading Jake. |

Why would you want to ship Jake out in favour of a 27 year old 25 point guy who is about to get overpaid? |

Seems like a sideways/backward move considering the age/salary difference.
People really need to get over Jake’s draft status
Connolly is one of those corsi/playoff run dudes who’s about to get overpaid. If I was a team looking for bottom 6 help, I’d look at whoever is cheapest out of Colin Wilson, Oscar Lindberg and Ryan Carpenter
Canucks need to stop buying high ffs |

Connolly had 22 goals and 46 points playing 3rd lines minutes and no PP last year. They might be looking at him and Miller as guys who see an increase in production moving up to top 6 roles. Then Leivo, Gaudette and Jake become your third line.
Miller is RH and Connolly is LH.
Edit: Other way around. Connolly RH and Miller LH |

He had 46 points last season. I doubt Jake ever scores 46. Jake and Hutton are party boys. Don’t want them polluting the locker room |
