William Karlsson at 5.9 per year is a steal for the Knights and as far as draft picks go our last one can carry cow water for fourteen forevers....he will be a legend |

Connelly would probably not find a better situation for himself . Hopefully 2.5 would do it ? Mrazek seems like a no brainer at this point , but at what cost ? Probably his best chance at beating out the starter as well . |

A very solid deal. Hopefully it helps speed up the Lee negotiations. |

Broberg over Boldy and Zegras(especially) is insane

I’m guessing that picking Broberg likely means some of the Oilers more seasoned defensive prospects are gonna get moved for immediate top 6 help.
Or not.

Am I mentioned in the last thread, Broberg's situation and scouting report bear some similarities to that of Lindholm is 2012. Both are high-end skaters, noted as having an offensive lean and both were taken higher than many expected.

Broberg has some of Klefbom's headstrong qualities as well. So somewhere between those two is a reasonable projection of a ceiling. |

The best part of this draft is that you finally have a GM who will let these kids develop properly......unlike the past decade or so, when kids were rushed and ruined |

So is giving Tampa a 1st to bail them out of cap trouble but hopefully JT works out so the 1st isn’t that high 😛

Some had him projected to be a true top pairing guy and others not so much....personally I feel like Holland rolled the dice (as did Yzerman) but now its just wait and see....hopefully he goes to the OHL this season....would get top pairing minutes and can start to adjust to the North American way of things

If I’m Lee I’m using the Hayes deal but who knows....Karlsson showed he was willing to be reasonable so maybe Lee will too |

Connolly is all but guaranteed at least 3.75mil. Knowing UFA, someone will give him 4 to 4.5 (ala Pouliot). |

Yeah...
Can’t imagine how the Oil will function if they spend 7+ million on goaltending. |

Considering we have 9 mil in space to begin with....really need to shed a contract |

Repost:
Adding Laughton alongside a Puljujarvi for Wood deal, Gagner for Pageau, signing Pirri and either signing a Donskoi/Panik or trading for a Kreider/Zucker (cap permitting) would fix things for the short term.
Pirri- Nuge- Donskoi
Wood- Laughton- Pageau
Gambo- Khaira- Currie
Nygard, Lucic, Cave
Pirri (1.3), Wood (net 1.25), Laughton (3), Pageau (net -0.05), Donskoi (3.45) and Khaira (1) totals 9.95mil which is RIGHT under where we'll be for cap space after burying Brodziak and Manning (8.33+~1.8mil)
This excludes any possible trades that free up cap space. |

The Oilers have plenty of scoring... last season they all spent too much time on defence because of lacklustre defensemen and goaltending.
The author and most Oilers fans are to simpleminded to see that. |

I have no problem with the first pick. The oil have been one of the worst d core, now it’s shaping up to be good. They drafted size and speed. If Holland can somehow drop a bad contract without taking one back and pick up some decent free agents they’re looking alright. Big ifs |

Plenty of scoring? They had 5 forwards who produced more than 20 points and only 5 forwards who scored more than 10 goals. Pardon my simple-mindedness but please explain how that quantifies as "plenty of scoring?" |

We had 3 (frank)ing players crack the 50 (frank)ing point mark last year.
https://www.nhl.com/oilers/stats
Only 10 other NHL teams scored fewer goals than the Oilers, who themselves managed only 232 GF. That’s 2 goals less than the year before (17/18) and 15 less than the year before that (16/17).
All this while experiencing career years from McDavid, Draisaitl, RNH, Nurse and Chiasson.
All this while witnessing a league wide upsurge in scoring.
The Oilers suffered from defensive deficiencies, I will not dispute that. But to say that a lack of depth scoring didn’t seriously hamper this squad is utterly absurd. |

Love the pick. We are set at centre and wingers are easy to get once we get some cap space. For years we never had a mobile blue line and lost because of it. Now we have five solid pieces who look top 3 dmen. Great work Holland and kgretz. |
