That lavoie pick is going to be a steal. Kid is a great player and top line player in the making. |

The Oilers have plenty of scoring... last season they all spent too much time on defence because of lacklustre defensemen and goaltending.

I neither loved nor hated Holland’s first draft as Oiler GM. Very meh. - Wildschwein
The Sportsnet interview he did on the floor before the draft was awesome though. "Well I'm not really new at this, you know " |

Just a friendly reminder that the Sens are 12 million under the cap floor....that is all |

Plenty of scoring? They had 5 forwards who produced more than 20 points and only 5 forwards who scored more than 10 goals. Pardon my simple-mindedness but please explain how that quantifies as "plenty of scoring?" - freelancer
You can’t score if you can’t get out of your zone is what he is saying . Puck moving D are essential in today’s NHL |

No disagreement. It’s massive in today’s game. And we’d be FAR more lethal on offence having a guy that can consistently get Connor the puck in stride from our end (klef is solid, but injury plagued and thus up and down)
That said, we also don’t have near enough weapons up front from the wing. Beyond the first line, we’re an easy team to match up with. Nuge is a quality player but he’s not a massive threat having to carry the likes of looch or rieder etc. Even sawing off play from the middle 6 and we’re a different team
We desperately need more proven talent From the top 6 wingers. Nylander !! |

Nylander for Klefbom?
The more I think about it, the more it makes sense for both teams. Toronto gets help on the defense and Edmonton bolsters their top 6. It also opens up 2.5m in cap space for Toronto too, of which will definitely be useful for them.
I'd hate to see Klefbom go, but acquiring an asset like Nylander would help our top 6 immensely. |

But yeah, it’s robbing Peter to pay Paul kinda. Klef is our only true top pairing guy:
Huge hole if we deal him.
I’d be trying nurse + |

Nurse has his warts, no question. Yet his growth over the last two seasons (especially on offence), coupled with his snarl and durability makes me EXTREMELY hesitant to consider moving him. We can’t afford to lose a player of his caliber and potential.
Now I am willing to entertain moving Klefbom, mostly due to his lack of durability. But I’ve no desire to swap him one to one for Nylander. We’d be taking on the bigger contract, and receiving a player who’s not without risk. If such a deal were to be made, I’d be wanting Nylander AND a sweeter, be it pick, prospect or bottom six roster depth. |

I think it probably comes down to our differences of opinion on nylander. And that’s fair. You’re not wrong he isn’t without risk.
But I think he’ll cover that risk without much issue next year and going forward
Time will tell of course and I’ve been wrong many a time before. But I see a quality two way possession driving young player with a lethal shot that has the ability to be a 60-75 guy for years to come.
I’d pay dearly for that |
