the Bruins have been one of the best drafting teams the last 5 or so years which keeps prolonging their success. Despite not having top 10 picks they have found some elite players

I agree. They have also been very savvy in the resource management. As they moved on from Lucic and Hamilton, they turned those two into 3 1sts, 2 2nds, Sean Kuraly and Colin Miller.

That being said, over time as you maintain your level of success, the law of diminishing returns will start to take over and while you replenish on some level, your level of depreciation eventually overwhelms it - like in Detroit. McAvoy is terrific. Pastrnak is terrific. Coming into this year, Bergeron will be 34, Machand 31, Rask 32, Krejci 33. While there might be some decline in their game from 28, it's not usually until after 34 that a player starts to decline more rapidly.

When the depth in their system can't find a new Bergeron, Marchard or Rask that's when they'll likely start to decline as a team. But they probably still have another 3-4 years out of them.

the early reviews i have seen is that the Leafs did well with the pics they had.
some fans might not be happy they didnt draft giants...seeing how well that worked out when Hunter was around idc

Funny about all of this is that when I said Bonnie Marner seems trailerpark trash (when the mothers went on a trip with the team and she was displaying some very annoying behaviour in the stands) and Marner seems to have a very strange family, most of you told me I was wrong - and some even displayed the for her.

Marner is a guy that comes from a family that is your typical lowlife family - a family which less and less was concerened by 'morals' due to their son's success. That's not to say that Marner is a bad kid - I don't think so at all.

By the way - Marner has every right to negotiate a deal he likes; we're not even 1st of July yet. Marner got less in his first contract (10% less than max on 1st contract) and since he got more points last 3 seasons compared to Matthews, almost similar PPG in regular season and a better PPG in playoffs, he is very right to ask for a very similar AAV as Matthews.

you're right about the decline from 28y onwards, but that is for regular NHL'ers.
not the topline players like Bergeron/Marchand/Rask etc. [so I agree with you on that]
Not sure though whether all of Marchand-Bergeron-Rask-Krejci will still have 3-4 good years..

Bruins do have some other good younger players as well though (I like Heinen, Carlo and a few others) - ánd they have a very good young goalie prospect in Vladar (I like him and am quite sure he'll become an NHL starter) - I don't know about their other goalie prospects... seems like their biggest question mark long term is for the Center position.
