Ironic, with MM being the face of the recruitment effort to lure Tavares and all. “Come home!” he said. “Imagine winning at home!” he said.

I just can’t see too many teams he’s actually interested in going and signing an offer sheet with coming to him with a contract. Him meeting other teams kind of sucks though, I think dubas mentioned after the draft going back to 2008 there’s only been one other player to meet with another team as an RFA without salary arbitration rights. I just want to get him signed and have him as a leafs for years to come, the process of this just sucks right now.

I hope he does get offer sheets. If anyone wants to give up 4 1st round picks you take that deal and like it.

If he *signs* an offer sheet for anything less than 10.5 I would match and immediately trade him.

Can't trade him after signing offersheets for a year

Cause Panarin is reportedly asking for $12M

Well then, two guys in a serious pickle.

Some pretty pissy opinions on Mitch already and it's not even July 1. Once the July 1 bonuses are paid a few opinions may be open.

I get it, people are a little anxious about #16 signing, but seriously, let this play out and loosen the (frank) up a little!

I would love for Marner to be a Leaf for a long time, but if he's putting money first.. I'd rather Nylander and the cap space gained to balance out the rest of our roster.
- PatC80

I love Mitch, I want him a leaf for a long time but if he's insistent on being ridiculously overpaid then he's got to go

6.5, young, moves puck and protects puck, shoots right... would check a lot of check marks for pretty much anyone.

If MM wants 11, send him for Seth Jones. Add Liljegren or Johnson if have to.

I don't think he'll sign an offer sheet. I hope it doesn't get to that. However, if it does, I think Dubas would work out a trade with that team.

Ask yourself, why is he, or his agent/dad letting it get to this point?

I don’t think you can, they have to decide on a trade before the offer sheet is signed otherwise it’s match or don’t I thought? But I know what you’re saying. I just think it’s a big bluff, he doesn’t want to leave. Squeezing all he can.

Thinking like the Kessel situation with Burke. Threaten the offer sheet but workout a trade with Dubas. The threat turned into a trade could work.

Because Dubas has shown that he buckles.

I even get what they are doing. Loyalty is such a BS concept when it comes to pro sports. See Gilmore, Sundin, Marleau etc etc. How fast the team and the fans turn against you when you can’t perform. You only play for yourself and your family at the end of the day.

Yet, you would want to accomplish something in your career, and leave some kind of legacy. When you are expected to make $150M in your career, extra $5-7M... after tax $3-5M with planning... while no chump change, not exactly make it or break it either. And that money wouldn’t improve your quality of life measurably. If that money left on your table can be used to keep your buddy in your team, I don’t know...

The only reason to fight for the last cent would be vanity and vanity alone.

And instead of Duchesne, how about calling Panarin's agent this week for a chat? Maybe Kyle has.
- Leafsmart

Panarin is going to cost 11.5

The leafs can’t afford him. They need 9.75 or under.

That's such a tiring narrative. Dubas didn't cave on the Nylander deal, or the Matthews deal and is signing both Kapanen and Johnsson to reasonable deals. Why do people think he caved.

Pretty much every hockey commentators have said WN’s and AM’s contracts are very good for players, not so much for the team.

You must know something they don’t. Please enlighten me.

Has to be the glasses. Dubas signs Tavares and Ennis. Lou signs Marleau and Martin.

You saw his DMs to that fan right?

Calling Hyman a fat ass, calling out Babs, and complaining about every other players ice times

A friend of mine knows his family quite well...he told me he’s pretty (frank)ed when it comes to Mitch and hockey. And that there’s no way Paul wants him to play away from Toronto.

Dubas probably knows this. He seems pretty annoyed about what’s going on...there’s probably more behind the scenes that we don’t know about.

- Santo_44

That stuff is just (frank)ed.

It makes me feel bad for Marner to be honest.
