lol. yeah, babcock was out to get marner. that's why he's been 3rd or 4th in pp time.

maybe it has due to with rookies needing to earn ice time as opposed to gifted 1st line time?

- Tumbleweed

I'm not debating that. I'm simply saying it appears that Marner's camp believed this to be unfair. Maybe they saw the way he was treated as not making the most of their investment while they saw others being treated differently.

Like just about every athlete, Nylander included, it is far better to not have your Dad involved with your contracts and demands. As a Dad, of course I would over analyze and be over the top with my kid. That's why agents are necessary in part.

at least nylander's camp wasn't acting like bunch spoiled whiny babies in public.

At least Nylander’s dad actually played in the NHL.

I'm sorry but I have to say this again. Marner is my favorite player. But the very best way that this situation can turn out is for him to be sheeted and the Leafs decline and take the four 1sts and 11 mill of cap space. This is by far the best scenario. Think of it this way, 11 mill could let you fit two good Dmen and still have a couple mill to upgrade a Brown to a 4 mill replacement. Oh ya and there's still the four (frank)ing first rounders. Maybe this I what Shanny and Dubas are hoping for and I wouldn't blame them one bit.

If Marner’s dad read that, he would’ve been triggered. Seems like a jealous loser.

The interesting part is many Leaf fans will bemoan the fact that Nylander doesn't get to play with Matthews as a reason for his decline, but then do not afford Marner the same respect in that he achieved what he achieved playing with Tavares.
- aminnes

I'm not 100% certain where you are with this. I don't think it should be argued that Nylander benefits more from playing with Matthews than Marner does playing with Tavares.

Nylander did play with Brown and that facsimile in Marleau's jersey which certainly didn't help.

Marner wouldn't have helped Brown or Marleau much last year either.

And 10 more goals
- Fakepartofme

I was told goals don’t matter.

It’s all PPG and that’s why Marner deserves the same as Matthews.

Maybe if the two dmen can put up 90 plus points.

I don't know about that! Nylander sat out for three months, got paid very nicely and came to work looking like the pilsbury dough boy. He basically did the Dire Straits thing last year "Money for nuthin" We'll see when the real numbers come out, but I set a deal of 6 X $10 - or see ya.

Yes. Last year Marner's pace was a bit higher though. If roles are reversed in their early times with the club and Matthews was getting 4th line ice time I'm sure things would be different to some degree. This is of course the argument being made by Marner's agent I would assume.

Once again, I think all three of them are overpaid.

So we should all dispense with the Nylander camp are super good guys and Marner's are Richards.

They should both get their moron dads the (frank) out before they keep building poopty reputations for them.

Oh so JT didn’t really have a career year then.

It was only 2 points more than his 2nd highest

the agent. complaining publicly marner has been low-balled. blaming 4th line time, mono. saying they will look at offer sheets when it's a complete empty threat.

meanwhile, marleau makes a self-less act and waives his nmc for carolina; so dubas has the cap space to sign marner.

You guys just think it's one way or the other. With many issues pertaining to the Leafs. Nylander's dad - cool, Marner's dad - Richard. Nuance. Both are important. Just like Marner is important to JT, and JT is important to Marner. It's not all or nothing.

JT specifically said he was excited to play with a playmaker like AMrner, it was part of why he came to TO. He's dumb I guess.
