Not a fan of any of the Leafs draft picks this year except Kokkonen.

It was disappointing in both quality and substance. Zero Canadians. I know, I know, that's caveman and old fashioned, yay global people kind whatever, but it was meh.

Which negates his size to an extent. He takes more shots but he is receiving the puck form someone. It;s been a long time since he scored any end-to-end goals. So he has a better shot.

Marner is not worth 10.5, but AM isn't worth that either. Leafs have been bad negotiators and are now paying for it, yet somehow everyone is blaming Marner for drawing comparisons, which every player does.

- aminnes

Matthews is the best 5 on 5 goal scorer in the league, since he's come into it.

And no one is saying that Marner can't draw comparables. Just get the right (frank)ing guys as your comparables, is all.

Robertson looks to be highly skilled. He played on an awful Peterborough team. Really (frank)ing small, though.

I was alright with the Robertson pick riiiiight up until I found out he's not that great of a skater.

You can be small in the NHL but you better be able to skate.

He can improve on that a bit but it's going to be a long, hard road for a guy that small to make the NHL without being able to skate at an NHL level.

I don't know, maybe it's just a really weak and thin draft but I don't see anybody outside of maybe Kokkonen making an impact down the road. And that's just because he plays a position the Leafs need and he plays the game intelligently.

Boston vs. St. Louis was more or less Team USA vs Team Canada.

And Team Canada won.

But at the end of the day, Leafs need some toughness and defense. Wherever those guys come from is fine by me as long as they win battles and prevent goals.

Agreed. I think He's a great player. Marner has many reasons to compare, not by goal scoring, but with other areas when it comes to salary negotiation.

The idea is importance. I view assists and set up ability as every bit as important as finishing. Oates had Hull. Tavares is a great scorer, made even better by playing with one of the best passers. Tap-ins, easy ones, they count on the score sheet as well, just like dump outs that are grabbed by the forward are counted as points. But ultimately Marner creates. He isn't throwing it up the boards and guys are happening to pick it up, deke through the rest of the team and score, he is setting up the play, and the play is to find Matthews on the pp, JT on both, and to carry the puck to create the angle to help make the other guys open.

Ya I'de say he certainly could argue his importance is just as high as Matthews, especially when it comes to salary comparisons.

Name three d-men in the NHL that you would trade Marner for? He's not going to see an offer sheet, but he was 11th in the NHL in scoring and he's getting better, he's also the youngest player in the top 11 scorers in the NHL.

Burn is a pathetic loser, twisting my comment about Dubas hiring a woman.
My viewpoint is that when hiring the women, he should never have connected it to comments on diversity. Hiring these 2 women should have been about them being women but instead of them getting a job due to her incredible pedigree and experience - just being the best candidates [point].

When you link the hiring of new personnel to 'diverse is better' it:
1/ takes away from the candidates incredible profiles
2/ ignores the fact that (in this particular example) the women are bound to be more similar to the men in the same departments/positions than different to them. defining people by gender or by skin color or sexual preference is medieval and just falls well with the new generation, scoring 'kudo points'.

I don’t get why so many fans don’t like younger executives. Dubas was trashed as soon as he started wearing glasses ffs.
Same thing with the Yotes. Is it jealousy over these guys being so successful at an early age?
I’m an old guy myself and I would much rather have a young gm running the Leafs. Just hire some experienced help for when he needs it.

well.. I guess you would feel less great if you were hired for a position if the comment was 'because he's Norwegian' instead of 'because he's the best candidate'?

I see allot of games. I subscribe to the Center Ice package and see what's trending in the league. If you like, go back and check my predictions for the Leafs, going into the playoffs. Also look and see what I said was the downfall of this team and why it wasn't possible to beat Boston. I think that I predicted Boston in 5, but with a caveat, that if the Leafs win one of the first two games in Boston, that it would be a longer series. I also told anyone who would listen, that St. Louis had a chance to win the Cup, due to their very large, talented blueline and their physical play. It's the same reason that the Leafs will never win in the playoffs until they get a larger, more physical defense and some power wingers that can grind out a series. Boston knows how to scout and draft these type of pitbull players, who skate hard into the corners with gusto. Players like Gardiner or Hamilton turn away like a cowering pup when challenged by a team that plays like this against them.

Are you ok? Get your head check for brain injury. We are all seriously concerned for you. My god.

How on earth did you just try to play off how smart and intelligent you are by telling us all how well you did in your predictions, but your predictions center around "not possible to beat Boston" and "Bruins in 5" did you watch the (frank)ing games? Have you looked at the results?

Yes, outside of the Leafs fanbase. The fanbase was convinced that the Leafs would win that series. I have no problem with that, because I would gladly have been wrong if they'd won a round. It's the old which way do you view a series, with your head or your heart?
- PrinceLH

They had a lead in game 6, in a game they had a chance to eliminate. But you said "they had no chance to win"

You were wrong.

Leafs fans didn't say they were absolutely going to win 100%, they said they have a shot.

SCORING GOALS! Matthews is an elite goal scorer which I feel is way more valuable than playmaking.

The last temptation of the Leafs for tonight: Dubas has done nothing to improve the team. The Cap situation is a bit better, but at the cost of a future first rounder. As it sits, the Leafs have too many of the same type of forward. Small, with speed, little sandpaper and a bellow average defence. It's up to Dubas to fix this inequity. Failing to do so means a step back and possibly missing the playoffs. One of these days, a team that's been sitting just out of the playoffs will make that push past them. Then it becomes peril, because many in the Metro division are stronger wild card teams. Watch out for Florida this year.

Probably didn't follow the concussion protocol.

That said, before the series started I didn't think we could beat Boston. Memories are short but I remember a team that struggled for the back half of the season and limped into the playoffs. Only two wins ahead of Montreal, remember? The series was a lot closer than k thought it would be
