No, they probably couldn't. I don't like the idea of trading for top defensemen. Usually involves an overpayment. A decent RHD is all thats required, or did Rielly not do enough to show he's the top d-man on this team? Curious what Vegas wants for Collin Miller, heard hes available.

vegas needs to move salary out. recent salary cap moves:

marleau + 1st

pk for pile of meh

braun for 2nd and 3rd

miller shouldn't cost much. i think a lot of gm's would be happy to let mcphee sweat this one out until june 30th after how he handled the expansion draft.

A "top" defenseman, no. An upgrade, yes. If the upgrade is not near what you see as equal value, I think you wait on it, improve Nylander's value, and try to make a deal in season. My point is, I think Nylander is the chip.

Fair enough. I don't think I'd go trading Nylander for someone like Miller though. I guess I'd have to see what you could get.

could make a deal around Nylander for Lindholm.
Makes sense for both teams imo.

- MaximusAurelius

Anaheim has a stacked group of forward prospects and has been dealing defensemen for a few years now. I don't think they'd be looking to unload Lindholm for a young winger, but I've seen crazier things happen. A lot of people love Lindholm too, so I wonder if Nylander would move the needle enough to make them budge. It really is going to be interesting to see what Dubas is going to do with this tea. Even more so from an outside perspective.

What do Bruins fans see as the weaknesses of the 2018-19 Leafs roster?

They just re-upped Karlsson too, so they must need to clear out a bit of space. poop, look at the weak return Nashville got on PK. The cap concerns are serious for teams this year.

Looks like Vegas is ~1.625 million over at the moment

What's the condition on the 1st rounder we gave up to dump Marleau's contract?

Anyone know if Vlasic is being traded? Not sure how they can pay 25M to 3 Dmen

It has to be the same thing that all hockey fans has seen as our weakness for 15 years I'd say. It's got to be the defense (and generally being fairly easy to rattle).

I assume you mean 19-20? Defense and backup goaltending. I think you could use a good shutdown RHD, but then again, who couldn't?

First, you started in about me being wrong and stupid. You're an insulting little Leftist that probably doesn't believe in God, but if you do, then that's a point for you. We all have our opinions and thoughts about how our favourite hockey team should be built. I also find an issue with the group-think among many on here. Get into a spat with one, you have to deal with the echo-chamber of nasty rhetoric.

I also see that you slagged someone about diversity. I couldn't give a flying fukc about diversity, because it's not a strength, it's a hindrance, The best person, regardless of all the categories should get the position. I've been there and experienced that, inside the Canadian Civil Service. It's why the Civil Service is so out of touch with the reality of average Canadians.

On the Leafs, we have to realize that Dubas sees the Leafs as a speed team and builds the team accordingly. The draft reinforced his vision and we can't expect success, without talent that has many different ways to compete. Defense, size, scoring, goaltending.......all must be addressed. For now Dubas gets a mulligan, but he needs to make the appropriate moves, after July 1st.

Kind of redundant. If our pick is top 10, something has gone horribly horribly wrong

As it stands (until Dermott's is back from injury) we are running a unit of:

Rielly Holl
Muzzin Zaitsev
Rosen Lillybust

If Rielly misses some games you can probably insert Kivihalme.

Should be interesting.

Leafs could have 5 D, Babs still wouldn’t play Holl.

He seems overly stubborn, which I'm not sure is a great thing in this day's NHL.
