I've been pretty shocked as well by this whole process. Not one dime has been left by any of them. It's sad.

Nope.

Is that what marner said?
Did marner say publicly that he wants Matthews money?

If the report of him turning down 11 x 8 are true then that's the same thing.

What report? The opposite is what has been said; he doesn't want 8 years.

Odds are he wants 11.6 x 5.

I think it was 10x8 and he said no to that price because of term.. as per Burke

I think it’ll be between 9.5-10mil x6
Anymore money or less term and I hope and pray for an offer sheet with the 4 1sts as compensation

I’d do 6mil maybe 7 on a three year bridge.. but a hard no to walking him to ufa or him and Mathews expiring at the same time

Yup. And also consider the huge endorsement deals these guys are getting as well. Can't leave a few bucks on the table to ice a legit contender.

They're not NBA endorsement deals. NHL players are rarely if ever among the highest earners in sports and probably have the highest risk for major, painful injuries outside of maybe motorsports.

They're going to do what everybody else would do and make as much money as they can.

Because at the end of the day, they are the ones taking a puck to the face, you're just watching them.

I was told goals don’t matter.

It’s all PPG and that’s why Marner deserves the same as Matthews.

Ummnn Mathews ppg is higher than marners

Didn’t JT turn down a reported 14mil more to sign with the leafs instead of sharks?

Why should they be among the highest earners in sports? NHL not even close t0o the others in revenue, we make the same argument against women's hockey players when they say they should make more money.

They are also the ones winning a cup, I'm just watching them. Plenty of guys have taken a little less to help their teams. It's just sad the Leafs never seem to have any. I'm sure a guy will be okay making 1 million less a year over a 15 year career that is paying him 165 million instead of 180. Poor hockey players, not making as much as NBA players.

You guys just think it's one way or the other. With many issues pertaining to the Leafs. Nylander's dad - cool, Marner's dad - Richard. Nuance. Both are important. Just like Marner is important to JT, and JT is important to Marner. It's not all or nothing.

JT specifically said he was excited to play with a playmaker like AMrner, it was part of why he came to TO. He's dumb I guess.

- aminnes

And if he did actually take less, looking at what San Jose did in the playoffs last year, maybe he made a mistake.

More money and the 3rd round...and could have gone further with him...
