Yepper.
I think Stone is a more complete player, but for someone who's never scored 30 goals in, what, 10 NHL seasons, that contract (frank)ed every team in the league.
People need to stop blaming Botts for what Skinner got. - Powerslave
I said it before, Botterill had a chance to sign Skinner before the trade deadline but it didn't work out. Once the trade of Stone went down I posted Skinner's agent will push for the max from the Sabres and he did just that. That's his job and he did it 1000%. Those guys at Newport Sports, I believe that's his agents, did it the right way.
It sucks but at times we need to overpay for players to come or stay here. |

Because that’s all Tavares could get - OneKaneOneCup
You don’t think the Leafs would of given up assets to give him the 8th year if he really pined for it ? Give me a break. |

I’m sure they would have liked to get assets back rather then letting him walk for nothing. |

Imagine the NHL would take issue with it. In theory, they aren't allowed to talk about contracts with other team's this week.

1 NBA player makes as much money as the Sabres top line including defense combined does
Blake Griffin makes $34 million per season
Skinner at $9 Eichel at $10 Reinhart at $3.5 Risto at $5.5 and even Bogo at $5.17 doesn't even add up to that
Hell James Harden makes $45 million per year - Stripes77
The difference is people actually watch the NBA. |

Is this some warped logic to somehow pile on Skinner’s 8th year?
The Islanders were negotiating with JT until he signed in Toronto post July 1.
They were never trading him anywhere |

It's easier for a fan base to stomach that you gave it your all and he deserted you, than to hear your management helped get him a better deal for the leafs in exchange for a 2nd round pick.
And that is to say nothing of the egos of those involved.
Do you think Lou Lamoriello, who had just left the leafs, was going to help them land JT for 8 years?
Get real |

Philly traded Ryan Hartman to Dallas for Tyler Pitlick. one for one of guys underachieving going to fresh homes. I think that's a 3rd team for Pitlick and a 4th for Hartman already. - MillerTime3011
I would have took Hartman here for the 4th line. |

You're not getting it, they took the chance knowing it may not work out but that's what you do, you keep fighting to keep him. Hard to stomach losing him. |

Yeah, I agree with you. They weren't going to hand the leafs a better offer, especially with Lou recently departing the maple leaf organization to go to LI and try to sign JT. 8 years wasn't an option |

My guess is the Leafs want an offer sheet for Marner so they know what they will pay him without them making the offer. Then they can move Nylander. |
