He'll fit right in with Okposo and Bogosian. (Sorry I had to) |

Hart yes. Playoffs MVP is more important in my eyes.
Did Botterill trade for Scandella as well or was that Murray? - bluengold12
Yes, though you could argue that Pominville is the best player in that trade.
And MVP vs. playoff MVP feels like splitting hairs. I guess the additional Selke makes is worse. If the giraffe and the dman turn into NHL players, it could be a slightly better trade than Hall for Larsson, which is to say it's still a poopty trade |

Gotta do something. I still like the Dzingel idea if they aren't thinking big with trades. Eichel, Dzingel, Mitts and Erod is fine for center depth. I'd be fine if they re-signed Pommer as well
Girgs-Erod-Pominville was pretty good as a true 4th line last year for the first 5 games of the season
Little Joe feels like a pipe dream - jcragcrumple
Probably right in Pavelski, but he would be perfect here in that 2C role for short-term of 2 years.
ERod should be a 4th, he can play up for sure but he really would be terrific as a 4th...that is when we will know they have a decent team, when he gets pushed down...but now Sovadka and Larsson complicate that.
Mitts is a 3rd at this stage, he needs mentoring and that is where they should spend money IMO.
I'm not expecting much really, so anything decent they do is pretty much a Plus. |

Considering Scandella gets crazy ice time and has some of the worst analytical numbers in the NHL I'm not so sure. - bluengold12
But who's fault is the ice time?
Foligno is no better than Pommer.
Ennis was a bust for them and is long gone. |
|
|
|
i think it comes down to what that Johnson dude ends up doing.. If he is at least a 2nd pairing d man the trade is comparable to the Hall one - SabresFaninIndiana
I don't see how. ROR is the biggest reason the Blues won the freakin cup! Hall has been awesome but not enough to get his team to the cup. Also we got a bunch of spare trash for one great player |

If you look at our cap space, coupled with the fact that Pilut will be out till at least November, Scandella will continue to get more ice time or Hunwick. Not sure which bumbling moron is worse. Scandella had some of the worst analytical numbers.
I wouldn't say we got hosed on the trade. But being stuck with Scandella for another year is a hard pill to swallow |

Is the ROR trade thus far the worst in NHL history? Maybe not but it has to be the worst in the last decade at least.
Think about the initial return...
- Berglund was brought in to be a stop gap 2C he sucked then quit on the team. At least we saved cap on him
- Sobotka was supposed to be a "quality" bottom six guy. He had the worst or second worst stats in the entire NHL in multiple analytical categories and he complained about not getting more ice time.
- Thompson, there's a chance he could come into his own in the next few years but he's been a mess in the NHL thus far
- 1st round pick ended up being the worst the Sabres could hope for because the Blues and ROR won the cup. Johnson is a prospect most saw as a mid 2nd round pick. Really can''t speak on him yet obviously but if he's anything less than a top pairing defender in 5-6 years it was a bad move - bluengold12
Jesus Mary and Joseph shut up about it already.

You can't compare those two lineups. They're not even close.
ROR put that team over the top.
ROR in NJ? Still a bottom 10 finish. |

And they don't even make the playoffs without the Hamburglar - I mean Binnington - coming in to save the season. There are many reasons |

Selke and playoff MVP trump regular season MVP. You think the Patriots would rather be 16-0 but lose the super bowl? Or barely sneak into the playoffs but then win the superbowl.... |

Ok but Scandella was solid for Minnesota during his time there. Not great, but more than solid.
It was a decent hockey trade at the time that, really, neither team ultimately benefited from. |

No! I’m not going to shut up about it. It was a heaping pile of crap ontop of the massive heaping pile of crap that is poor Buffalo sports decisions! And if you would’ve read my post, I clearly said probably not the worst ever but DEFINITELY the worst in the last decade THUS FAR

2 way street. Can be Risto's agent, can be a team telling him Risto was being shopped to them. |

I don't think so.
At 31? They have about 25% chance of playing 200 NHL games anywhere let alone a 1st pairing

If this kid turns into a good #2 to play with Dahlin or even a good #3 the trade will look better
The trade right now sucks.
But if he gets traded elsewhere he doesn't win a Cup
People are so emotional
Time to get over it |

To start:
- Release Sobotka to the AHL
- Release Hunwick to the AHL
Release Wilson to the AHL (Zero cap space is eaten from this move and saves us some)
- Park Okposo in the press box unless injury if he doesn't like it release him to the AHL
- Don't tender Girgensons and Larsson pick one if you have to or trade both for hockey pucks
- Trade Scandella take back 25-40% of the salary if you have to
These are the kind of moves the GM should be making. Cut the dead weight out of this line up then I'll start feeling better about the team. |
