He said he was happy with the fresh start of course he's going to say that after he was traded. But he also said he never asked for a trade out of Buffalo and liked playing here. And his teammates that matter clearly liked him to because the captain of the team was at game 7 rooting him on

Is the ROR trade thus far the worst in NHL history? Maybe not but it has to be the worst in the last decade at least.

Think about the initial return...

- Berglund was brought in to be a stop gap 2C he sucked then quit on the team. At least we saved cap on him
- Sobotka was supposed to be a "quality" bottom six guy. He had the worst or second worst stats in the entire NHL in multiple analytical categories and he complained about not getting more ice time.
- Thompson, there's a chance he could come into his own in the next few years but he's been a mess in the NHL thus far
- 1st round pick ended up being the worst the Sabres could hope for because the Blues and ROR won the cup. Johnson is a prospect most saw as a mid 2nd round pick. Really can''t speak on him yet obviously but if he's anything less than a top pairing defender in 5-6 years it was a bad move

the problem is the previous GM stripped our prospect pool so we don't have much in the way of trade chips besides current players who we then would need to fill their spot or they suck and wont get us anything...

I'm not saying they're all realistic but its reasonable to get 1-2 of them for sure for the right price. Less likely for Ehlers and RNH more likely for Zucker and Granlund

That he was a sore in the locker room. That's the narrative WGR tried pushing because someone higher up wanted it to seem that way. It was all over the place that apparently ROR was bad for the locker room but if the captain and future of the team was there to root him on, doesn't sound like a guy who was hated. That was my point.
