I actually like the idea of bringing in some older guys for a year. We've got a wave of talent coming in a year or two - no need to bring in huge contracts now.
- Slump Buster

I don't think any of those guys, outside of Pavelski, are worth much on this team.

Williams will likely stay in Carolina if he keeps playing.

Boyle is a journeyman bottom six guy, and I wouldn't be shocked if he went back to the Devils.

Justin Williams wouldn't be awful.
- TheSabresTaco

He turns 38 on October 4th

Why would a guy like him sign here to end his career?

But that's the thing - I don't see a major roster overhaul coming. I think we're going to be shopping in the discount bin to try to fill a few holes and hope that 55 gets us a scoring winger.

I think boyle would be a great add and I'd overpay for him on a three-year deal

Why would Pavelski leave a potential Stanley Cup team to come to a bottom feeder like the Sabres ? Makes no sense to move his family for that.

Rather have Simmonds but wouldn't overpay for him.

Lee and Dzingel are getting 7mm each base on projections.
- ImThatGuy

I keeping hearing from both good and bad resources that Buffalo is extremely high on Anders Lee and I am just terrified of ANOTHER Islanders winger signing here. TERRIFIED.

He wouldn't unless you overpay him but I think he cup chases.

I have a big feeling about Nashville going hard for Pavelski after Duchene prices himself out.

I struggle to see them spending money on a winger when 2C is such a big whole. Maybe they roll into next year with Turris like we do with Casey. Yuck.

Sounds familiar.

He won't, nor will any of the other names. Nothing to do with us... either guys will stay or they will get paid too much.

What makes you think the two are mutually exclusive? They have to get the 2C first before addressing other needs? I have a feeling the 2C is going to be a temporary guy.

He wouldn't unless he's getting a ridiculous amount of money. Even then, I'm sure it's not about the money for him.

Boyle or Simmonds, sure if they are "cost controlled," but I don't know why they would come to the Sabres at the end of their careers.

Maybe Rivet can do some negotiating and bring some of his SJ friends in for a kick at the can.

At least they could all get wobbly pops together, or whatever he likes to do.

“I feel it, too. I think it's really crept into myself. Over the course of the year, I've lost myself a lot, where it's just kind of get through, just being OK with just not making a mistake. That's not winning hockey at all, and it's crept into all of our games.”

"It's disappointing. It's sad. I feel throughout the year I've lost the love of the game multiple times. You need to get back to it because it's just eating myself up and eats the other guys, too. It's just eating us up, and it's tough."

I have to be better

Granted Lee is exceptionally better than either Moulson or Okposo were coming here.
Okposo was just coming off of his best year with a 22 goal 64 point output.
Moulson had had 37 and 31 goal season but it was 5+ years before he came to Buffalo.

Lee had 74 goals in the 2 years prior to this past seasons lowly 28 goals and 51 pt season.

However, Lee's 28 goals would have tied Eichel for 2nd on our team and 4th overall in pts behind our 1st line.

I'm a little worried that Lee's previous statline is very similar to what we just gave Skinner 9M for. I'm sure another team would be willing to offer Lee more than 7-7.5M like would be my ceiling for him.

Of course it does. It's not optional.
- Lunaion

Of course it’s not optional.

4 players are going to be making 60-65% of your cap.

You have 30mil to pay the remaining 17 players.

It doesn’t work.

Duchene won't price himself out of a winning team, he smarter then that, at 6 I would be good with Lee but nothing more.
