The NHL is a Mickey Mouse league when it comes to player movement.

And half the reason is the same, old school “hockey men” who recycle from team to team, and just want things status quo.

They need a lockout tbh

- OneKaneOneCup

IMO a lockout/stoppage is inevitable

Just curious. Do these projections sound accurate if each progress as expected.

Dahlin 12-14
Reinhart 8.5 - 9.5
Montour - 6-8
Mitts -5-7

- ImThatGuy

When?

Dahlin - seems high I think. Yes he will get there, but I suspect an interim contract in between for 5 years at say $9-$10. I could be wrong.

Reinhart - could be, not as of right now, more like $7.5, if he bangs out a solid year in the 70's then for sure

Montour - interesting, again depends on this season. $6 is good.

Mitts gets a bridge deal, the $'s which really depends on this year as well. I would suspect it to be in the $4 range for 2-3 years.

Not trying to shoot the messanger, but I think the high water marks there are too high.

I would say, if each is very successful next year, that the low end would be each one's ceiling.

If Reinhart gets 70 points, $9m is completely believable with where the salaries have gone. It might actually be the low end

Dahlin is not up for two more years. Based on current inflation and again depending on his progression he is getting 12mil min, again ImO

When their contracts are up.

If Reinhart puts up another 65+ point season 9 mil is absolutely on the table.

They're probably gonna pay Dahlin next year. $11+ I'd bet. Letting him get to RFA status is a mistake. And if Myers is truly getting $8, it's a bargain

no offense, but the Sabres don’t have much to offer for Malkin besides picks/prospects. If the Sabres were willing to trade Dahlin then maybe, but I doubt they’d do that

Again that’s my point. They don’t play as Much as NBA star players you need to dispense the money better as it stands I two years after these next rounds of deals.

You are going to have 4 guys making 45mil of a 85 mm cap.

And you have to have a second line so that’s another 30mm for 4 more guys.

And a goalie at 4-5mil.

In two years after these next rounds of deals you have no money left.

9 players making 80mil

So you have 5 mil left for 11 players. Min league salary is what 750-850 with player bonus not included

There is not enough money to go around as currently constructed and it is going to be impossible to put a team together.

Mediocre players and making star player money.

- ImThatGuy

1 NBA player makes as much money as the Sabres top line including defense combined does

Blake Griffin makes $34 million per season

Skinner at $9 Eichel at $10 Reinhart at $3.5 Risto at $5.5 and even Bogo at $5.17 doesn't even add up to that

Hell James Harden makes $45 million per year

Desirable climate similar to SJ, and equally as close to a cup. Potentially with more cap space

They have to trade 15 players to make it work.

He'll have to take a pay cut probably either way. Can Tampa offer slightly more? Could be a jealousy ploy for the Sharks as well

They have guys they can still unload. Losing cally, stralman and miller off the cap helps. I bet they trade gourde somewhere too. Or Johnson.

Point will cost 8-10 and just because they load up on star players doesn't get them the cup. I'll take Gourde and Kilhorn.

They should, it's not working now. After next year and if they don't win, it should be free pickins

Thornton would sign in tampa for under 4 to chase a cup, IMO.

Then Buffalo calls to take Gourde or Johnson or both.
