What teams are out there that Nylander would even sign with that could afford him? Seems like a Suter issue again. Flyers signing him to handcuff his team. An offer sheet immediately removes half the teams in the league right now. |

Man the whole system really is imploding in the nhl... the leafs should do themselves a favour a be rid of Nylander & Marner if someone is dumb enough to give him 10 Mil... Its true that we dont see offer sheets & truthfully many of the players are not worth the 10 or whatever it costs to steal them.. but last year if i was the wings (& had the cap) i would have offer sheeted Draisatl 11 X 5 or w/e i had to, to get him from edmonton, maybe they would match because he is magnificent...
But man bigger picture here is the joke of quality of player demanding or earning 6-7-8 million dollars now, when superstars are not much further off... i dont understand why these gm's value the second tier quality nhl talent so much, especially when it has not payed off or said team has never won a cup! Not only does it seem like a hilarious waste of money, but these teams r getting bad, & staying bad with no hope but winning a draft lottery! Even if we dont barrel t a lockout i will still be sad because it doesnt seem like The Wings will ever get better... lots of teams in that boat now though... |

As I just wrote in my edit
Nylander is 6 months younger than Drai and has 55/107...for his career - Takemedrunkimhome
I clearly said at the time they signed that contract. |

Did Nylander do anything in the playoffs? Is he a perimeter player or does he go to the net... Ever? - kaptaan
Nylander's #'s are fine in the playoffs. |

Offer sheet Marner $10,568,589 x 5 years and the compensation is two 1sts a 2nd and a 3rd. Lots of teams would pay that price.
Marner would be a UFA at age 27 and get to cash in again so i think he would take that deal.
The Leafs would have to swallow hard on that as I don't see how they could pay Marner 10,568,589, Kapanen, Johnnson, three other forwards plus 2 more D men with $3,000,000.
Cap purgatory in Leaf land!
The Leafs always swallow hard. Maybe they need to find pictures of him in his Leaf jammies hugging a picture of the Stanley Cup. Then sign 3 top 4 defencemen.

Karlsson signs for 8 years at 5.9 M/year with VGK. Solid signing. A little long in term but the money is fine. |

NHLPA and player agents want this? What a surprise. You won't see the compensation change in the new CBA merely because of the reason they are like that in the first place...to prevent bigger, richer market teams from constantly pilfering smaller market teams. Reduce the compensation and markets like Ottawa, Florida, Carolina, Arizona and, to an extent, the Islanders will basically become developmental farm teams for the rich teams. |

What a debacle this "Offersheet" stuff has been by the media. There will be none..again.

Anything over 10.1 million offer sheet for Marner I don't think the Leafs will match. They'll take the 4 first round picks as compensation and let some other team overpay Marner. |

In the NHL is it possible to assume the 4 years will be 4 late first? I can only name 4 or 5 teams I'd be comfortable doing that with. |

Seabrook for Nylander, done - BlackhawkMike
No need to trade Seabrook, I hear he's been seen with Hossa and will soon have a career ending case of Jock itch.

Nylander doesn't have to sign, he signed last year.
The Flyers never signed Suter. |

EK, EK, the owners will bargain for extending the entry level contracts from 3 years to five years. It protect themselves from what is happening now. Players are coming out of entry level contracts and getting career contracts. It started with McDavid's ridiculous contract from the OIlers and has trickled down to Matthews and beyond. It penalizes teams that draft and develop well.
Though these players are big time talents most of them have won nothing and must be paid in increments according to what they really accomplish.
The only "hill the players might die on" is eliminating escrow. |

Is it necessary to win before you can get a big contract in the NHL?
I thought you had to put up the same numbers as others making that big income, then wait until your contract is up for negotiations.

It was a joke, but there is a good chance that the Islanders move him. Toews is younger, better, and cheaper. And a plays a very similar game, except better in his own end. |

Pullock would be better, lower hit, younger, a RD and better. I'm sure Lou knows that too though. |

How the (frank) does William Karlsson sign for 5.9m and the Flyers sign Hayes for 7.1m?
Sanheim signs for 3.25m and Provorov wants 7.5m?

No state income tax in Nevada.
Forget who tweeted it, but Karlsson nets the same amount of money he would playing on an $8M deal in Toronto |
