Well sure but that seems unlikely. |

from the PG regarding Zach Lauzon:
Rutherford also expressed hope that Zachary Lauzon, the 2017 second-round pick whose career has been stalled by a concussion and other injuries, still has a future in Pittsburgh. The Penguins opted not to sign Lauzon earlier this month, making him a free agent, but he will be at their prospect development camp this week.
“We think a lot of him. The year we drafted him, he had a really good rookie tournament in Buffalo. We really liked him,” Rutherford said. “And after that, he was dealing with injuries over and over and over again and was trying to figure out how to get totally healthy and what the issue was he was dealing with.
“I’d like to think that there’s a pathway for him still. Based on what I saw at the rookie tournament that year, he was a guy that I could have seen playing in Pittsburgh, and I hope that’s still possible. We still want to stay connected to him. From a player point of view, we believe in him. Hopefully he can get 100 percent healthy and at some point we can move forward and still sign this player.”

As I said, if they move Barrie they likely bring in another RHD. They have to. Timmins is still recovering from his concussion |

Hopefully it doesn’t really matter. I am a fan of Cullen but young and cheap sounds much more betterer that old and wiley at 1 mill. |

I know we tend to give GMJR flak for overpaying (Rust, Hornqvist, Oleksiak got slightly more money than we thought... plus JJ obviously).
But at the same time I think we have to realize Mitch Marner is asking for $11M and we just signed Guentzel for $6M. Since our core players are locked up at amazing prices, add in the Guentzel and Dumoulin deals and I think it outweighs most of the bad. |

There's far more good than bad. McCann and Bjug for the carcass of Brassard and some picks was a pretty nice deal too. |

I WPG a few newspapers wrote about Penguins being interested along with a list of teams. Pittsburghhockeynow has also stated the same from Canadian media sources. I think it is crazy myself. Then again I wonder if Schultz is asking for a similar number during extension talks. - 123Kid
Thanks, I haven't heard anything like that. PittsburghHockeyNow... I'm not familiar. I'm sure Schultz will be asking for something similar. I'll pass on that too. |

While I might be in the MAJOR MINORITY here and I am comfortable with it, the JJ deal is the only one I hated. And that was more term than cost. I didn’t like losing Sundqvist but the addition of Reeves, although failed, was for purpose. I wish Kapanen wasn’t added to the Phil trade, but hell we got Phil!!!
I don’t dislike what he has done. |

As someone eluded to, the Blackhawks are indeed retooling on the fly. Check out the moves Bowman is putting on. He’s getting great returns for his players! I took so much heat on the HB Hawks forum, I dare not return but it makes me feel good. They were a good team playing terrible hockey, just like the Blues
Someone said Hornqvist had a good season until the concussion: he actually started the year a lot on the third line playing with Brassard who wasn’t doing Horny any favors. Horny was very sporadic to start the year. I don’t think he’s useless, but his concussion history is concerning - WSCTeton17
Not to grind on this, but he had 15g and 26pts in his first 34 games playing primarily on the bottom 2 lines and 1st PP. I think that's a pretty good start to the season before the 2 concussions....JMO.

Sometimes players need to be told when it's time to hang it up. That was at least 2 years ago for Cullen. I personally thought he was done after that 2nd cup here. |

His shot volume down the stretch run playing with Bjugs and Simon was great too. They were doing all the right things, but scoring. I really think the talk of his demise is greatly exaggerated. |

I think one of the most frustrating things about this past year & potentially next year and maybe the year after is we have guys on such good contracts like Crosby, Malkin, Letang, & Kessel. Our core guys are all signed on great contracts salary wise compared to what some of the other guys around the league are getting and we cannot take advantage of that because we have signed/traded for enough guys with bad contracts to offset the good contracts.
In 3 years, Kessel, Malkin, & Letang all have contracts expiring. I think these next year 3 are the best chance we have at one more Cup. Way too much uncertainty to know what will happen in 3+ years. |

I’d rather gamble on Perry to put up production again than Simmonds. But if the deal was right I wouldn’t mind the signing. Maybe Pens will have a few fighting majors again. |

He had one assist his first 6 games, had 5 points in two games, and then went 6 games without a point. That’s a bad start. Like people are harping on Rust and his production but at least he kills penalties. Rust had 30 points in 54 games to close out the season (which was his last 3 quarters) with none on the power play. That’s solid production for $3.5MM |
