All I know is that every time he gets a chance to play he plays a strong game. I still think he was the one who deserved to make the team 2 seasons ago. - MBFlyerfan

I mean, I think that EVERYONE would agree that we'd rather have him playing full-time in the NHL last year, if not before. But numbers games and injuries just haven't been his friend, and the timing just hasn't worked.
My hope was that, this year, he'd find a comfortable top-6 role. However, as it stands right now, he's #7 at best. Unless something changes, I hope he can step in and impress when an injury hits and at least give the coach a hard decision. |

From what I understand his QO was too much for the Stars, yet they would still like to discuss a contract with him. The risk is that now all teams can discuss a contract with him. Think that wraps it up. - sjk540
I think you're mistaken on that. The QO to retain Hartman's rights is 918,750. I believe the issue is they want to avoid arbitration with Hartman. Which probably also explains why the Flyers traded him. |

I saw that. Didnt he go back to the minors or was that during the lock out season? I still can't believe he got traded twice |

Interesting. A gamble. Should be fine for Hartman. I imagine he’ll have a few interested teams.

I think he had a split season his first 2 years, but he's been in the NHL full-time since 1999.
He was actually only traded once, he signed with the Bruins as a UFA. As for the trade, well, when you have a chance to acquire a superstar like Alexei Yashin, you do it 11 days a week. |

i thought the same thing, would hope its provy but I think they are waiting for the Werenski signing, its pretty much a who blinks first between those too. I would take an announcement of a 4 year/16 mil deal for Konecny though.... |

Provy could be the new Nylander
There is really no rush for him
He played 246 games on ELC and last year heavy minutes with 27 teams with not a single player above him in TOI |

TK is a crafty player but still hope they do nothing silly term wise |

I think the term will be the issue, i bet he wants to do what Sanheim does for an even bigger payday, I would like we go 4/5 years instead of 2/3, i just think TK is the real deal and will hit another level this year. of course, going longer for term i would hope the AAV can stay at 4 or a touch under. like a 5 year 3.75 mil AAV or as i said 4 year 4mil AAV |

Oh yeah, he will get his. I dont think he takes a bridge at all, he's looking for an 8 year deal with max AAV. It's provy, we know what he can be, and what we think he will be. I thought 6 mil a year was perfect, but clearly he wants more. I would hope we can keep it under 7 mil AAV though. |

Why did Dallas trade Pitlick? They have close to 15 million in cap space, and have 16 players signed. |

They like Hartman but they're gambling by not qualifying him. I think he ends up signing elsewhere. |

Agree with you? I thought this was an on going agreement of the past two years. Sanheim wasn’t ready and it showed in the first half of the 2017-18 season. What I’m waiting for is for those to remember that Hagg was a lock right out of camp and deservingly so. The last spot in 2017 was Morin vs Sanheim, that Morin clearly deserved.
Moving forward, Morin is not currently better than Hagg for those trying to convince themselves otherwise. |

Which is it, moving forward or currently?
Also, Morin's played...what, like 10 NHL games? I don't think that's a big enough sample to say whether or not he's better than Hagg. Currently, Morin is less proven for sure, but I haven't seen enough of him to say if he's better or worse. Moving forward Morin, given a chance, could be better than Hagg, or could be worse. I don't know yet. |

Even though Hartman never struck me as the spark plug he was in his first game as a Flyer, it’s hard to see gritty players in their 20’s go who are unproven at this level. Those being Hartman and Gudas. I have no doubt Niskanen upgrades the defense but is Niskanen as physical as Gudas and is Niskanen a Proven first pair player? |

Absolutely. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. I’m not saying Morin can’t be better than Hagg, I’m saying it’s not proven right now. |

Hartman not tendered by Dallas. So basically what Dallas got out of the trade is cap space.
It will be interesting to see what Hartman get's on the UFA market which could mean he still ends up in Dallas but obviously acquiring Hartman wasn't the point of the trade for them. - Flyers_01
odd because they could have just waived Pitlick. he is only making 1 million (god saying only to a million ). maybe they wanted the contract space. |

In my opinion they traded for a younger player with more upside.

I know that "hits" are very subjective as a real time stat (I have a hard time believing that Gudas and Hagg were both top-3 amongst defensemen), but Niskanen doesn't hit as frequently as Gudas, and he doesn't have that ability to time big hits as often as Gudas did. However, Niskanen did lead his team in hits last year and he can lay a nasty hit when needed. |
