The 23-year-old had an incredible season, as he accumulated 41 goals and 92 points in 79 games with the Bolts. According to LeBrun, the Lightning want Point to sign a two or three-year bridge deal, while the forward is pushing for something closer to five years in length. Other NHL teams can start talking to all restricted free agents as of Wednesday morning at midnight ET.

I thought that based on the amount of the AAV, there is a certain combo of picks that the Sabres didn’t have that eliminated them from offering a big range. It would require a 3rd round pick that the Sabres didn’t have if the AAV was up there. Idk. BS rule if you can’t compensate with a round better pick. Pay more than what the compensation price is if u don’t have the right picks.
