Except they were never in that position, since the pick was protected. - ImThatGuy
Touche.. that is a fact I forgot but if I do remember right it was top 10 protected but if it got pushed back a year then it was unprotected just like OTT/COL deal was? Not like OTT got much better in a year's time.. it would have been very exciting to wonder just how much a bottom 10 team could have improved in 1 year. |

the 1 good line
Olo - Marc Johansson - Brett Connolly
Sheary - Mitts - Okposo
Girgs - Asplund - Larry
I would prefer this, it's doable.
Edit: I'd swap MJ for Dzingel, Pavelski (if short term) or 1 year of Spezza. - RhinoFan
MJ!!!!
YESSSS.... join the bandwagon... I have been calling for him to be the 2C UFA signing if we needed to go that route. |

You know, I wasn't a big fan of his, but liked how he played in the playoffs this year and he can be shifted to wing, so kind of makes sense for us. Agreed, sorry to steal your thunder. |

given how thin we are at RD prospects
I am a little shocked Jack Dougherty didn't get a contract - homiedclown
He's below replacement level. There's 25 Jack Doughertys on the open market, right now. |

The only thing I am nervous about with MJ is if he is a product of players around him or if he is good enough to elevate others.
The first 6 years was in Washington where we know their top 6 was stacked. Then he went to NJ and was pretty below average to be honest. Only played 87 games in last 2 years so it was pretty injury riddled.
Then goes to Boston as their 3LW and played very well again. |

Penner - thatsapickle
Fun fact
Edmonton gave up a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd for the Penner offer sheet.
After a couple trades the 1st ended up in Buffalo and became Tyler Myers.
The 2nd Anaheim drafted Justin Schultz. He went to college and afterwards decided he didn't want to play for Anaheim and became a UFA. He signed with Edmonton.
The 3rd was traded to the NYI for Marc-Andre Bergeron and eventually became some Russian who never came over. |

was he? Hm. I remember their pairings wrong then.
I'm pretty sure Benn is a lefty too.
The RD market is BARE bones... Myers, Stralman, Girardi, and Englland. Heed is not a bad name from SJ but he is 3rd pairing at best.
Any time that you see Taylor Fedun has the 6th highest point output for Righty UFA D men... you know that corps is bad.

Pavelski is in Tampa right now. At their practice rink.
If he signs there I’ll take Johnson |

Carolina has 4 RD and 2 LD listed on Capfriendly. I haven't watched much this past year, but are one of the RD playing out of position as a LD or is this just because they traded deHaan? |

At least we will have cap space, picks and prospects. I was told that's what we need to have, forget progress. - SABRES 89

Well you know they can't take celery for him....
What do you even offer? Miller got them a 1st for f*cks sake.
I'd offer like a 2nd and a prospect like Nylander at best. |

That's not quite fair.... Sure they did sign ROR and Bozak but I don't think you can say they won a cup because of those acquisitions. They added Maroon too.
They had young prospects that really carried weight for them in the playoffs too like Schwartz, Dunn, Thomas, Sundzvist and even Barbashev & Edmundson. Not to mention Binnington carrying them from dead last in all of hockey with a 24-5 record and 1.89 GAA. They all matured and hit their stride this year which is what we are waiting for on our kids.
Not to mention they already had great vets in place like Tarasenko, Pietrangelo, Bouwmeester, and Schenn. - JVince11
Sammy Blais too. Big difference when your young guys step up |

I thought I read you could push the compensation/ pick back one year.
Who the hell knows though. - ImThatGuy
Only if the compensation requires (2) or more of the same round picks. Then you get +1 years to satisfy that rounds compensation pick. Make sense? Lol |

Yeah, I think he falls under the "needs help to do it" category as well. He doesn't drive a line or anything, but is a decent fill in and a big upgrade over Slowbotka or the other options. He can shift to LW after Cozens is ready. He shouldn't cost an astronomical amount either, so thought it was a good pick for 2C/3C fill in for us.
Agreed, the injuries are a little disconcerting. |

there is no reason to offer them all contracts
how does bringing back elie, girgens and larsson make this team better?
I will wait for any logical answer from anyone
I mean they are who they are
you do not need larsson, elie, wilson, girgens, and sobotka under contract for 2019-20
period - homiedclown
Too my knowledge not a single one has been offered a contract, just the QO.

Might be the Risto trade?
Then move a 2nd and a prospect like Nylander to Vegas for Haula/Eakin and Miller?
IDK just a thought |
