how is this team going to be better with sobotka, wilson, okposo and adding contracts to girgens, larsson and elie


unless this was a playoff team housley f'd up and I feel at best is was a fringe playoff team if everything went right


I could care less if it's june 26th, july 26th or august 26th


how is sobotka, wilson, okposo, girgens, larsson and elie all worthy of holding onto one of our 50 contracts allowed


sometimes there is addition by subtraction

right now we have a blueprint for 1 open spot in the fall

There's a lot of words here. so I'll simplify it. We're not a better team with those guys here. We're the same team. Botts will not enter the 2019-20 season with the same team. If a guy has trade value of any sorts, you qualify him. Clearly everyone who was qualified has a reasonable contract. Just because they're qualified does not mean they automatically play for Buffalo on October whatever.

If all 6 are on the roster opening day, I'll be right there with you. My bet is that 2 or more of those guys are press box/AHL bound. If that's the case and we trade say Larsson for a 3rd or 4th, Girgs for a 6th, I won't be upset in the least.

I guess it's another time will tell thing with me. Until July 1st hits, just seems preemptive.

i dont mind girgs and larry but the rest need to be scrubbed.. I don't get the QO to Elle either.. If they wanted him for rochester just sign him to an AHL deal and not waste an NHL deal on him. I feel we are stuck with Okposo and sobotka because unless we can loan vlad to europe no one is taking him. and i don't think we give Okposo the Moulson treatment yet

Girgs, Larry, etc .... qualitifying then doesn’t not guarantee they will be in buffalo next year.

Girgs and Larry already have had rumors around signing with teams overseas too.

It's fair to feel that way, but it's not fair to give up hope before training camp.

If by training camp, you're looking at Brett Connolly as your major UFA addition and a Girgensons for pile of poop swap, then yeah, I will join the poop circle of poop despair.

I was told by the gm we would be high energy fast paced north south team

offering all of these guys contracts contradicts what he said, this is now his team and he is in year 3 and keeping the murray and darcy cast offs within this organization


just like the owner said money is no object, clearly it is based on the last few years



enough is enough and I am no longer towing the company line because right now the company sucks

if you had no use for a 300 lb woman, would you offer her a date?

sheary, smith and e-rod is just fine for a 4th line with more speed and energy

Of the 6 QOs were McCabe, Ullmark and E-Rod were getting deals.

Girgs and Larsson you may not WANT here, but we have little to nothing to replace them with.

Ellie is the only person that I see a valid female dog about and it's 1 contract. Sobotka and Wilson were under contract already. Pommer on a 1 year deal isn't a sky is falling situation...

Curious as to why they did it that way
Only thing is that a 2way contract was the only way they thought they could keep him for Roch

I'm surprised Nosek wasn't qualified in Vegas. He'd make a really nice 4th liner. My guess is because they can't retain more than 10% over the cap. think that's the number. And they're basically 10% over right now.

The lack of moves have me a little rattled but I will always be a faithful Sabre fan. I truly believe Botts is trying to do the best he can and that’s all he can do.

I am no fan of Gus and Larry, as everyone knows. But I understand why they were qualified. I don't understand qualifying Elie at all. Either offer him an AHL contract or nothing.

WIth that said, it certainly looks like they're going to bring a bunch of these mediocre-to-poopty guys to training camp to compete with the Olofssons, Smiths and Thompsons of the organization. My hope is that Krueger knows better than to play Sobotka 13 minutes a night.

Yeah I'm not sure about that one. Why not just let him go and negotiate a two way deal. I know they liked him in Rochester a lot.
