I think zuc and Nyquist can be ruled out. Donskoi makes a good amount of sense to me. He'll be somewhat cheaper than the others and he adds speed and he does nearly all of his scoring 5-on-5. It makes sense that Botterill's name is attached to him, especially considering he's a RW. Doesn't mean the sabres will get him, but i'm guessing he's the apple of Botterill's eye, as the reports suggest

I'd rather try to squeeze someone out of San Jose, Florida or Tampa Bay once they press up to the cap too hard.

Hertl, Trocheck, Johnson are our most realistic trade targets, imo. And go figure, those are all perfect 2nd line players. Which we desperately need.

I guess the question is: is he a better option than Okposo, Pominville (I assume he'd come back in a heartbeat) and Nylander? I'd see him closer to 40 or 45 points because of a larger role and perhaps some sporadic PP2 time. But point taken. He's not great by any means. Idk if it's worth it, but that's the type of move i'd expect, if something were to happen in FA
